81 6.2 Helicopter Maintenance H175 scheduled maintenance program has been elaborated according to the MSG-3 (Maintenance Steering Group 3rd issue) method approved by the EASA. The MSG-3 method includes a Living Maintenance Review Board (MRB) process based on a collaborative work between Airbus and a representative sample of operators to organize the in service feedback experience. Thanks to the continuous exchange with operators, the scheduled maintenance program can be permanently optimized with the objective of increasing cost effectiveness while preserving safety. Consequently, the maintenance program is at least yearly updated Scheduled Inspections The maintenance program specifies the intervals between maintenance operations that are recommended by Airbus, irrespective of whether they are mandatory or not. The program can: either be used as is, or be adapted by each operator to suit their own specific organization, provided it complies with the maximum intervals. For the performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, Airbus has classified the maintenance tasks by the following three maintenance levels: Organizational Level (O-Level) This Organizational Level (O-Level) comprises tasks such as the daily servicing, pre-flight checks, visual inspections for condition, replacement of modular components and simple repairs. This work can be performed by trained helicopter mechanics with standard tools only (no special tools necessary). Intermediate Level (I-Level) This Intermediate Level (I-Level) comprises tasks such as smaller repairs ON / OFF helicopter, periodical inspections and replacement of modular components as well as modifications. This work can be performed by trained and experienced mechanics and may require special tools and / or test equipment. 175 B E 79

82 Depot Level (D-Level) The Depot level (D-Level) comprises tasks such as repairs OFF helicopter, overhaul of major components and heavy airframe repair. This work can be performed by Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), authorized repair centers or Airbus and requires special overhaul and repair tools, as well as test benches (if required) according to repair manuals or instructions. Scheduled airframe inspections Maintenance level Estimated mean man hours Flight Related Check O Level - Pre-Flight check O Level - 50 FH inspection I Level FH inspection I Level FH inspection I Level FH inspection I Level 308 1,600 FH inspection I Level year inspection I Level - 9 year inspection I Level - 12 year inspection I Level - Note: All the "hands-on" aircraft values mentioned here above are given on the basis of a 20,000 FH life cycle. They refer only to the scheduled inspections for the standard helicopter without optional equipment in accordance with the Master Servicing Manual (MSM). The announced mean man hours are post sampling program and without incoming flight, work preparation, reworking, servicing, Service Bulletin (SB) implementation, unscheduled maintenance. The following table provides an overview of all engine inspections. Each inspection has to be performed for the respective time frame. PT6C-67E Scheduled Inspections (per engine) Maintenance level Estimated man hours 15 h Engine oil quantity through sight glass O - Level h Engine Power Assurance Check O - Level h I - Level 16 Compressor & Turbine desalanisation wash frequency based on operating environment I - Level 1.25 Note: For further details on the engine inspections and the respective D-Level maintenance please refer to the applicable engine maintenance manual B E

83 6.2.2 Time limits Components must be removed the latest when limits are reached. Limits are determined according to component type. TBO objective. Maturity plan in progress Aircraft maintenance, aircraft repair and on-site assistance Airbus provides a range of service levels for line, intermediate and heavy maintenance activities from dispatching experts on-site, to welcoming a rotorcraft at an Airbus-certified center. Line maintenance, which is often completed within a short period of time and does not require specialized equipment, training or facilities, can be performed either on the flight line or on-site at a customer s premises. Intermediate maintenance is more often performed at a maintenance center due to the higher level of tools, equipment and training required. Heavy maintenance and major inspections on any Airbus rotorcraft can be performed either inhouse at an Airbus-certified maintenance center or directly at the operator s facilities. The Airbus global network of approved maintenance centers is located in close proximity to customer facilities to perform these services. 175 B E 81
