ZAATAR MAKING EXPERIENCE Anytime during the year You will learn about agriculture in Jordan while making your own, Jordanian favourite, Manaqeesh (flatbread topped with a variety of possibilities such as za'atar, cheese, an onion and tomato mixture, or keshek). Of course the experience is sweetened with a cup of tea.

But in Petra, that s exactly what happens, because it s home to the oldest bar in the world, which just happens to occupy a 2000 year-old cave. The cave itself was originally built as a tomb by the Nabataean people, who inhabited that area of Jordan; The Nabataeans were clearly gifted at taming massive stones: they chiseled cliff faces into god blocks for worship and carved this very successful, long-lasting cave. The restaurant and bar are next to the entrance to Petra Guest House Hotel, behind the Petra Visitor Centre.

We will first catch some great views over the Rift Valley of Wadi Araba and then we will see the Monastery as we walk into Petra, then onto the marvelous tombs and temples, also we will go through the site. This superb hiking route is around 15 KM (9.3 miles)

48 1. BE A SHEPHERD EXPERIENCE Anytime during the year The shepherds, a part of the Jordanian culture that hasn t changed in centuries. In this experience, you will be engaged in how the shepherd move their sheep with clanging of the bells to lead them. You will watch the shepherd milk a few goats and you will get the chance to drink it after it is heated over fire.

LITTLE PETRA CAMP Anytime during the year Camp where you can make your own mini rababa (a musical instrumental), weave a small part of a carpet, and make bedouin kohl, dance the samer (Traditional dancing), hike and cycle through the historical village of Beidha. After this experience you will know much more about the Bedouin lifestyle.

50 3. DABKEH SESSIONS Anytime during the year Dabkeh, the traditional folk dance and most popular one among the Levant people, represents the culture, passion and joy. The dance Is widely performed at weddings and other joyous occasions. In this session, you are going to learn Dabkeh basics and how to perform it. WADI MUJIB From April to October Wadi Mujib is located in the mountainous landscape to the east of the Dead Sea, in the southern part of Jordan valley, approximately 90 km (56 mi) south of Amman. During the years the cleft was scoured deeper and the gorge of Wadi Mujib was formed. Wadi Mujib holds a beautiful wildlife among it. More than 300 species of plants, numerous species of permanent and migratory birds have been recorded until this day. Adventurers will hike, scramble, wade, abseil, climb and swim through the breathtaking sandstone canyons of Wadi Mujib.

58 2. WADI HIDAN From April to October Wadi Hidan, located 30 km South of Madaba, has 12 natural swimming pools and is popular for its volcanic basalt rocks. This Wadi includes some dramatic wild mountain scenery, and a surprising amount of vegetation and water. A beautiful black basaltic canyon filled with narrow gorges, surprising amount of vegetation and fresh natural pools.

59 3. SNORKLING, DIVING & BOAT RIDE From April to November Between Aqaba and the Saudi Border. If you ve never been snorkeling before, Aqaba is an easy and more instantly attractive place to start, with the reef shelving located just steps from the beach, The Red Sea holds stunning reefs and aquatic-life. Diving beginners can go down accompanied by an instructor at any of more than a dozen dive sites.

60 4. FLOATING AND SPA IN THE DEAD SEA Anytime during the year The Dead Sea, is the lowest point on earth, where you can float and relax all day long! Thousands of visiting bathers come each year to enjoy the mineral-rich waters of these hyper-thermal waterfalls. These falls originate from winter rainfalls in the highland plains of Jordan and eventually feed the 109 hot and cold springs in the valley. This water is heated to temperatures of up to 63 Celsius by underground lava fissures as it makes its way through the valley before emptying into the Zarqa River

66 4. JABAL UMM AD-DAMI Best in Spring and Autumn The highest peak in Jordan at 1854 meters above sea level. Jabal Umm ad-dami is a moderate hike/scramble from the foot of the mountain, about 2-3 hour to the top. There are absolutely stunning desert views from the top of this mountain!

67 5. JABAL AL-HASH Best in Spring and Autumn Jebel Al Hash is located in the Al Forah area, close to where the Jordanian border intersects the Saudi Arabian border. The hike is aasy and breathtaking in its beauty. This is probably the most beautiful mountain in Wadi Rum to scramble on, because as you arrive at the highest point (1700m above sea level) you will see all of the different colors that exist in Wadi Rum.

68 6. JABAL BURDA Best in Spring and Autumn This natural rock arch is the largest and most impressive rock arch found in Wadi Rum Protected Area. You will climb to the top and admire the stunning views in all directions.

69 7. HOT AIR BALLOON Best in Spring and Autumn Take a bird's eye view of the beautiful scenery of the majestic mountains in Wadi Rum by climbing into a hot air balloon. Be it an indulgence for yourself or a surprise gift for a loved one, a hot air balloon ride is a unique experience. Balloon flights typically take place during the early morning hours and last for around one hour, but guests should allow 2 to 3 hours for the whole experience.

73 3. CASTLES OF JORDAN Anytime during the year Jordan holds a several castles that were used during the Roman, Hellenistic, Byzantine & Crusaders periods. Each one placed on a hill overlooking spectacular views. Famous castles in Jordan include Karak, Shobak & Ajloun Castle. There are also Desert Castles of Jordan that represents the unique Islamic empire in the Middle east. They re unique, breathtaking and full of history! Whether in Amra Castle (UNESCO heritage site), Hallabat Castle or Azraq Castle. The frescoes within these castles and the stories behind them should not be missed, you will just admire them!

74 4. AMMAN CITY TOUR Anytime during the year Starting with with a visit to the Citadel, where in the Old Testament King David arranged to have his lover s husband murdered. The citadel has great views overlooking the ancient amphitheater and old downtown. We then drive to Jabal al Weibdeh, the arts and cultural district, passing art galleries, local antiquities and handcraft shops. Afterwards we head to 1st Circle and start our walking tour on Rainbow street, lined with cafes, before descending colourful steps into the heart of the old city, passing Wild Jordan, a division of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature. Stopping at local restaurants to sample falafel, hummus and the Arab delicacy, Kenafah, eaten at times of celebration. 75 5. AS SALT (THE HARMONY TRAIL) Anytime during the year As-Salt is a model of harmony in Jordan - social, religious, and architectural harmony. People of all faiths and backgrounds live peacefully with mutual trust, as a society in harmony. As-Salti society is considered to be a system that is organized by a common culture and traditions. People live in extended families - the family has a high priority in their life. They are helpful and courteous, and are always happy to act as hosts and guides. The city developed its old Islamic architecture using yellow limestone, which was the finest at that time. Traditional bonds are as strong as the religious bonds. As-Salt city reflects religious harmony between Muslims and Christians. They are neighbors, and use the same walls, stairs, terraces and roofs. They practice both happy and sad events together.

76 6. SHOPPING TOUR -SOUK JARA During Summer Souq Jara is a famous street shop located in one of the oldest streets in Jabal Amman It s available each Friday during summer from 10 AM to 10 PM. It s an easy- going market for antiques, handicrafts, streetwear, crafts, t-shirts, art & food. They have traditional products from around the country & may include film screenings, live music and other cultural activities.

77 7. OLD JORDANIAN TRAIN RIDE During Summer Take a journey in time on an authentic steam locomotive that still runs on the historical Hijaz Railway which dates back to the beginning of the century. Once out into the open desert beyond the outskirts of Amman, a mob of Bedouins on horseback will attack the train, forcing it in to a stop where they will pretend to kidnap some of the passengers. The rest of the group will be invited under a Bedouin tent where the old Sheikh of the village will negotiate with the eldest person in the group or the head of the group the release of the hostages. Our guide will be translating the terms. Later after the hostages return, the entire group will be invited to join the Bedouins for coffee or tea and Arabic sweets. Then they will proceed by train to reach Al Jiza one of the many old Ottoman stations along the Hijaz Railway. Lunch will be served on the platform of the station, catered by one of the 5 stars hotels in Amman.
