8 SAR PREPAREDNESS , 2013 Edition AFC & PSC Rescue Technician: Wilderness I RT: W-1-03 The candidate, shall demonstrate (verbalize) the ability to be prepared to work in a wilderness environment for a 24-hour period of time with proper equipment and be self- sustaining. The candidate shall provide the adequate SAR pack for inspection, which includes all of the required items as approved by the Alabama Fire College and IAW, the Alabama Fire College equipment list. Expected time to complete skill(s) is 15 minutes 1. Demonstrates the ability to prepare for wilderness navigation - CRITICAL POINT 2. Demonstrates the ability to prepare for orientation - CRITICAL POINT 3. Demonstrates the ability to prepare for wilderness survival - CRITICAL POINT 4.
