5 Active Adventures 11:00 AM The Un-Cruise Advantage We play outside rain or shine. We play in the water. In the woods. Even in the mud. We think it s pretty cool and our guests tend to agree. It s all about the untamed wild and woolly wilderness and the many ways you get to discover it. But no matter your interest, our goal is to provide you with a mix of outdoor opportunities while making it easy to enjoy moments or hours of escape and relaxation. The choice and pace are yours. It could be kayaking and paddle boarding one morning and snorkeling the day after that. Another day may offer a gentle afternoon shore walk or have you feeling the muscles burn with a rigorous hike (or a little bushwhacking.) And if you just feel like taking it easy, that s okay too. For those who take their adventure on the lighter side, you can enjoy riding in the skiff or chatting up the Captain on the bridge. 2:25 PM Whether you are looking for mild, moderate or rigorous outdoor pursuits, or a more Zen wilderness experience, we offer activities to suit a variety of skill levels during your un-cruise. We also rank our hiking excursions with an activity level rating to ensure you are comfortable with your selection: 1 Easy; 2 Moderate; 3 Challenging; 4 Strenuous; 5 Difficult. Depending on where you might be exploring, the Expedition Leaders and Guides will provide needed insight for you to make a safe and enjoyable choice. Gearing Up Each expedition ship is equipped with top-of-the-line kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. There is a nominal daily use charge for snorkeling gear and wet suits. Limited quantities of hiking poles are available on board for your use. What to pack varies depending on your destination. A detailed packing list for each destination is available on our website and in your travel documents. Adventure Activities Include: Whale Watching Unbelievable Kayaking Paddle Boarding Inflatable Boat Excursions Unspoiled Wilderness Hiking Caving Unmatched Glacier Viewing Polar Bear Plunges" Birding Untamed Wildlife Observation Tropical Beachcombing Waterfall and Shore Hikes Educational opportunities come in many forms. Underwater hydrophones, bow-mounted cameras, and microscopes provide closer exploration. We'll also visit with locals for engaging cultural encounters. You can visit the Captain on the bridge and have oneon-one conversations with our expert naturalists. Learn about the wildlife and region during onboard lectures that occur depending on where we are and what we re doing. Beach Time Adventure opportunities abound, but just in case you want more, we ve arranged some additional excursions with local experts to further enhance your experience. Guided fishing, flightseeing, camping trips (to name a few) are available for purchase on board. InnerSeaDiscoveries.com 5

7 Southeast Alaska & Glacier Bay Unmatched Hands-on Exploration Shaped by massive glaciers over millions of years, the temperate rainforest of Southeast Alaska (also known as the Alaska Panhandle) reveals wildlife-rich fjords and spectacular scenery. The Tongass National Forest the largest in the US is 16.8 million acres and consumes the majority of the area. Other features include Glacier Bay National Park; Admiralty, Baranof and Chichagof Islands; and Misty Fjords National Monument. 10:15 AM Russian settlers left their legacy in churches and towering totem poles reflect the history of the local Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian Indians. For centuries these protected waterways have served as important travel corridors for Native Indians, explorers, and gold-rushers seeking their fortunes. Today there are still no roads connecting the towns of Southeast Alaska, and modern day residents still travel by water as their predecessors did. Glacier Bay National Park is recognized as a biosphere reserve, as established in 1986 under the MAB (Man & Biosphere) program of the International Coordinating Council. In 1992 the 3.3-million-acre park also became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, 15,000-foot mountains rise straight out of the ocean and massive glaciers flow across the landscape, covering thousands of square miles. Explore this unforgettable natural laboratory where receding glaciers reveal a landscape that has been covered with ice for tens of thousands of years. 4:20 PM When s the Best Time to Visit? That question seems to often come up no matter what destination. With Alaska travel, it s almost always the first question asked. Rain, bears, whales, sunlight, temperature, number of people, fishing, snow level, insects, flowers, birds, northern lights how much, how little, how long, where exactly, how thick, what variety, how high/low these are all key interests when planning your Alaskan vacation. It s The Big Land, and therefore, there is no cookie cutter answer. The following guideline best describes when skies are most blue and when salmon change hue... 6:30 PM InnerSeaDiscoveries.com 7

8 Caption NEW Itinerary Northern Passages and Glacier Bay 8 Days / 7 Nights Juneau to Sitka (or reverse) Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve and remote wilderness exploration highlight this adventure. Spend days cruising among massive icebergs, hiking into wildlife-rich forests; standing atop a glacier; kayaking, paddle boarding and riding a skiff along a dramatic fjord; learning about the Tlingit culture; and whale watching. Here in the bay there are sea lions, mountain goats, bears, moose, eagles, and spectacular scenic backdrops. Margerie Glacier Grand Pacific Glacier Muir Glacier John Hopkins Glacier Lamplugh Glacier Pt. Tidewater glaciers sweep like rivers of ice down massive mountain valleys, terminating before you in the waters of Glacier Bay. Conditions permitting, you ll also have a rare opportunity to hike or kayak or tour via shore boat. 22 The loveliest fleet of islands that lies anchored in any ocean Mark Twain 22 The Un-Cruise Adventure 9:15 AM

23 The Hawaiian Islands 2:45 PM Uncommon Exploration Experience the islands from a different perspective. As the 50th state of the United States, and the only US state made up entirely of islands, the Hawaiian Islands are best known for their beauty, beaches, water activities, and active volcanoes. Explore tropical waters by kayak, paddle board, snorkel, and skiff, and the shoreline by foot. The 76-guest Wilderness Explorer provides an exceptional base for active adventures. A Wildlife and Marine Sanctuary Formerly known as the Sandwich Islands as named by Captain Cook following his visit in 1778 this archipelago of volcanic islands and atolls sits at the center of the North Pacific Ocean marking the northeast corner of Polynesia. The island chain forms the largest marine sanctuary in the world, consisting of more than 7,000 marine species, about a quarter of which are found nowhere else on earth. The protected islands and atolls offer a breeding site for millions of seabirds, and are home to endemic, exotic and endangered animals, including the Hawaiian monk seal, the nene goose (official state bird), the Hawaiian Honu green turtle, and the pueo or Hawaiian owl. 1:00 PM The shallow-warm waters surrounding the Hawaiian Islands provide one of the world s most important habitats for humpback whales. Two-thirds of the North Pacific population migrates to Hawaii each winter for breeding, calving, and nursing. We encounter many of these same humpbacks in Alaska where they feed during the summer months. Legend and Lore Dipping into coves, primarily on the leeward side of the islands, our flexible 7-night adventure actively explores the islands of Lana i, Moloka i, Maui, and the submerged crater of Molokini. Along the way, experience traditional Hawaiian culture with opportunities to get to know the locals by visiting their land and their homes. 10:15 AM InnerSeaDiscoveries.com 23

Day 2: Coastal Lana i Steep rock faces, white-sand beaches, and ancient volcanic plugs sitting both above and below the water surface line the shores of Lana i. Gear up for a day of play. Hike along shore or snorkel, paddle board, kayak, and explore by skiff. The Humpback National Marine Sanctuary located between Lana i, Moloka i, and Maui provides front-row seats in these productive marine breeding grounds. Day 3: Lana i s Manele Bay Start your day searching for dolphins at sunrise. Or sleep in and later, drop in on a yoga class on the top deck. The choice is all yours! This morning, options for golf, cycling, horseback riding, and hiking ashore are on you adventure menu. Take advantage of all the equipment on board for activities, and relaxation.
