PAGE 2 Introduction Whether you're a seasoned safari enthusiast or a first timer, this family safari adventure holiday encompasses some of the most unique and diverse game reserves and national parks Africa has to offer. Arriving in Maun we head straight to the wetland of the Okavango Delta and leave behind our vehicles to be gently poled along the water systems of the Okavango Delta in a traditional Mokoro (a dug-out canoe), where we can get up close and personal with the flora and fauna before returning to our wilderness camp for the tradition of a sundowner. Moving on from the Delta we head to the Moremi Game Reserve, which was first established by the Batawana people of Ngamiland. With an abundance of wildlife you will spend each day searching for the big five under the expert eye of your guide. Heading for Savuti and Chobe National Park, we hope to see the largest yet sensitive of all African animals, the elephant. Famed for its huge elephant population, Chobe is wonderful environment to view these amazing creatures. For our final stop, we trade wildlife for wild water and cross into Zambia, finishing at the Smoke That Thunders', Victoria Falls to complete our African adventure. And what an adventure for the children it will be! Explore International. This holiday is part of our Explore International range. Participants on these trips can book through KE or through one of our international partners. This helps us to gather together sufficient numbers of like-minded adventurers to get your holiday up and running quickly. Led by an English-speaking guide, the cosmopolitan nature of these groups can be an important part of the experience! Is this holiday for you? Suitable for children from 9 yrs old Everything in Africa is on a big scale, and to cover the ground necessary your journey across Botswana includes several long drives accompanied by Africa's spectacular scenery. Such drives, including your game drives, can often be on dirt tracks, graded roads and also tar highways. The vehicles used have been custom-built to cope with such conditions. Included in the itinerary are several safari experiences on foot. These walks can be on paved surfaces or uneven sandy terrain but they are always accompanied by your experienced local KE English speaking guide. Each walk is paced with time for your guide to interpret the environment around you. On some walks in the bush, especially in the Okavango Delta, we need to keep together as a group in case of an animal encounter. When in the Okavango Delta we travel by Mokoro Canoe. These are traditional dug-out canoes and are very basic and may require walking in the shallows to board at water level. The accommodation on this journey is camping. Some are fixed tented camps and others are wilderness camping. When wilderness camping an adult must share a tent with the children. At the fixed camps there is usually a bar/restaurant available and a swimming pool. During your holiday, some participation on day-to-day camp chores is required. Getting involved with such chores adds to the camaraderie of your holiday. This journey is suitable for the adventure traveller family looking to experience some of Africa's most special safari experiences! Holiday Itinerary Day 1: Meet at the campsite in Maun. A single transfer from Maun Airport is provided. KE land only services begin with a single timed airport transfers for clients arriving on this day. The campground in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango are only a short 20 min drive from the airport. The guide will give the group a briefing about the holiday and then we have the rest of the afternoon free to enjoy the campsite pool. Maun is

PAGE 3 situated on the banks of the Thamalakane River and Maun is a bustling town where we prepare for our delta adventure. We will need to repack our bags for the next phase of our tour as we will have limited space for luggage. Taking only what we need for the next 2 nights, we will leave our main bags in Maun. Our guide will brief us on the things we will need. The campsite has an excellent restaurant on site for dinner. Overnight in Maun. Swimming: Pool at the campsite CAMPING Day 2: Transfer by vehicle and mokoro (dug-out canoe) into the Okavango Delta. Transferring into our open 4WD vehicles, we will drive for approximately 2 hours into Okavango Delta. Every year, over 11,000 cubic kilometres of water flows from the Angolan Highlands into the Delta, making it the worlds largest inland Delta. Okavango s diversity stretches across 10,000 square miles and provides one the finest arena s to experience Botswana s wild side. We meet our local guides with their mokoro's, traditional dug-out canoes, at the water's edge and we complete our journey on the river being poled along with the chance to spot the wildlife of the river. Around midday we arrive at our wilderness camp and in the late afternoon we continue our exploration on foot. Before the walk our guides will give a safety briefing. We may encounter elephants or even lions on the walk and it is important to listen to the briefing and to follow the instructions of the guides. After possible encounters with the local wildlife, we return to our wilderness camp. We aim to leave no trace and the camp here is very simple consisting of dome sleeping tents and a pit latrine. After the traditional African 'sundowner' all members of the group will assist with the preparation of dinner and afterwards we can settle down for a night in the Delta accompanied by the soundtrack of croaking frogs. Overnight in the Okavango Delta. Approx transfer time to the Delta: 2 hours. MEALS BLD Day 3: Game walks in the Okavango Delta wetlands. The best time of the day in Africa is the early morning and with the sounds of the dawn chorus all around us we set out in the relative cool on a nature walk to explore this wonderful wetland. Returning to our camp for a well deserved brunch we have time to relax during the heat of the day and perhaps take a swim in the clear waters. Depending on water levels and the location of the animals which our guides will know, in the afternoon we may have a mokoro excursion along the river. Being gently poled along in our mokoro, provides the perfect opportunity to move within a safe distance of the wildlife without disturbing them as they go about their daily business. We can enjoy another beautiful sunset before returning to camp or we may take an another walk. Back at camp there will be an opportunity to take a bucket shower before dinner and spending our second night surrounded by the nocturnal murmurs of the Okavango. Overnight in the Okavango Delta. MEALS BLD Day 4: Morning game walk, return to Maun by mokoro and vehicle. We have another short, early morning game walk. Then we return to camp for breakfast, break camp and pack up into the mokoros. We pole back to the vehicles and transfer to Maun. Arriving at our first camp again in Maun we have the afternoon free to relax by the pool or pop into Maun for some souvenir purchasing or a coffee. Overnight in Maun. Swimming: Pool at the campsite

PAGE 4 CAMPING MEALS BL Day 5: Drive from Maun into the Moremi Game Reserve to spot the big five. We departure early this morning for our journey to the Moremi Game Reserve. Consisting of pans, floodplains, lagoons, grasslands, forests and savannahs Moremi was the Batswana tribe s richest hunting ground before the tribe declared it a game reserve in 1960 s. It is now one of the leading wildlife areas in the world. We enter the park at the South Gate, and from here we game drive to our campsite allocated by the Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB). This can be anywhere in the reserve, and they are private campsites and the only facilities are the shower and toilets tents that we bring along. Depending on the location our of site we will go on a late afternoon game drive. We may have viewings of wild dogs, buffalo, elephant and possibly even cheetah during our stay. Overnight in Moremi. Approx drive time: 6 hours MEALS BLD Day 6: Full day at Moremi, game drives in our open sided 4WD vehicle. We make good use of our open sided 4WD vehicles to feel the essence of African game viewing. Under the guidance of our expert guides, we embark upon two game drives (one in the morning and one late afternoon) to seek out the Big 5. With game in abundance, big cats are a common sighting and prides of lion, cheetahs are often spotted within the reserve. Combining the more arid regions of Moremi with the wetlands of the Okavango delivers some incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. Raucous hippos make their presence well-known in the lagoons, whilst herds of Elephant can often be spotted leading their young to water to quench the family thirst. Although game viewing will be dependent on the season, this supreme land of safari experiences should provide the most memorable of wildlife encounters. Overnight in Moremi. MEALS BLD Day 7: Drive to Savuti Marsh, famous for its large lion prides. Moving north over the sand ridge and into the Mababe depression we arrive at the conservation area of the Savuti Marsh. This open grassland is within the Chobe Game Reserve and attracts herds of zebra and wildebeest, which in turn draw the large lion prides for which Savuti is famous. We wild camp in the central Chobe National Park at Savuti or Zwei-Zwei, depending on our HATAB site allocation. Time permitting we will head out for a late afternoon game drive. Approx drive time: 8hrs (We will be stopping for wildlife viewing etc during this period). Overnight in Savuti. MEALS BLD Day 8: Full day in Savuti Conservation Area. We have a full day in the Savuti marsh area and the general routine is to enjoy and early morning and afternoon game drive of approximately 3 hours each and to spend some time in camp during the heat of the day for rest, lunch and shower time. Times may differ depending on sightings and group preferences and the location of the HATAB site. We may choose to spend the whole day on the marsh and have lunch out on the game drive. Overnight in Savuti.

PAGE 5 MEALS BLD Day 9: Chobe National Park - home to the largest concentration of African Elephants in the world. Heading further north east we head to the Chobe National Park. We are likely to spot wild dog, zebra and the endemic Chobe Puku antelope. The Chobe River flows lazily along the northern boundary of the Chobe. National Park attracting some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa. During the year the elephant population can vary from ,000 and are most likely to be found on the banks, cooling off. We arrive in the afternoon and after setting up camp we will enjoy a game drive along the banks of the Chobe River. Approx drive time: 5 ½ hrs (we will be stopping for wildlife viewing etc during this period). Wild camping in Chobe. MEALS BLD Day 10: Last game drive, transfer to Kasane. Afternoon sunset safari cruise. Our last morning wild camping we set out for an early morning game drive on the banks of the Chobe river before returning to camp for brunch. We then make our way to Kasane arriving for a late lunch. Taking to the water in the afternoon, we embark on a sunset safari cruise to optimise our chances to meet the elephant herds. Finishing the safari with the tradition of a sundowner, we return to our campsite for our final evening in Botswana. Approx drive time: 2hrs. Swimming: Pool at the campsite MEALS BL Day 11: Cross into Zambia at the Kasangula ferry border. Visit Victoria Falls. We set off and cross the border at the Kasangula border, which is a ferry crossing over the Zambezi River. We should arrive at our campsite near the river in Zambia in the late morning. In the afternoon we visit the mighty Victoria Falls. This incredible natural wonder is twice as high as Niagara and spans 2km. Over 1000 cubic metres of water flows over the falls every second*, plunging 108 metres into the gorge below. Exploring the Smoke that Thunders can be an almost deafening experience! Approaching our vantage point on foot we have excellent views of Victoria Falls in her full glory, including the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge, commissioned by Cecil John Rhodes in 1900, which spans the immense gorge. Please note, depending on the season, the water levels of the falls will vary. From late November to early April is the wet season for the upper reaches of the Zambezi and this is when the falls are at their loudest and most impressive. From April the flow gradually reduces, although this mostly affects the Zambia side and there is always a good flow over the rim on the Zimbabwe side of the falls. Overnight Livingstone, Zambia. Approx drive time: 1 hour (excluding border formalities (which can take 2 to 4+ hours). CAMPING MEALS B Day 12: A free day in Livingstone and Victoria Falls. We have a free day to enjoy the town and the Falls or to book one of the optional activities available here (rafting, bungee jump, scenic flights, sunset cruises etc). You may choose to meander through the handicraft markets for a last minute souvenir, or simply relax at the campsite pool. Swimming: Pool at the campsite

Altitude This holiday does not involve any significant ascent to altitude and we would not expect any altitude issues with this trip. This amount should be sufficient to cover non-included meals, visas, tips of local staff and miscellaneous expenses. If you are intending to buy expensive souvenirs or undertake any additional activities or excursions, you should budget accordingly (credit cards can be useful in this respect). Also, if you expect to buy considerable quantities of soft drinks or beer, you should make an allowance for this. You can choose to take your money in pounds Sterling, dollars or euros. There will be the opportunity to change money into local currency on arrival at Maun Airport and your local leader will advise the best places to change money en-route. Additionally, you will be able to get currency from bank ATMs in many of the towns that we will visit. Credit cards are often accepted but if you intend to bring your travel money with you, we recommend that you bring this in the form of cash. Sterling, US Dollars and Euros are readily exchanged.

PAGE 8 Guidance On Tipping In Southern Africa it is usual to tip staff including your local guide and driver if you are happy with the services provided. The exact amount should be determined by the group and the guide will give advice on the appropriate levels. Beat The Jet Lag Our holidays are normally designed with minimal 'down time' at the start of the trip, but having a day or two at the beginning will have the additional benefit of allowing you time to get over the stress of travelling across time zones, leaving you refreshed and ready for your holiday. We can easily arrange for you to have additional nights and airport transfers. Free KE Gift We give you a free gift as a way to thank all our clients who book a KE holiday. Choose from KE T-shirts, buffs, KE trek bags* (where applicable) plus many more. Alternatively you can choose to make a 10 donation to the Juniper Trust Charity. Baggage Allowance For this holiday you should take one piece of luggage and a daypack. Your baggage will travel in the vehicle with the group, and you should try to keep the weigh to approximately 12kg. You should bring a soft bag, such as the KE kit bag, as these are more suitable to pack in the vehicle. For the 2 nights wild camping in the Okavango Delta you will take only what you need and the remainder of your luggage will stay in Maun. For international flights please check your baggage allowance with your airline. Group Size & Holiday Status For each holiday there is a minimum number of participants required to enable it to go ahead. Once the minimum number is reached, the trip status will change from 'Available' to 'Guaranteed to run'. You can check the trip status for each departure in Dates and Prices table.
