Using the Haunted Woods Visual Support These smaller pictures correspond to the same larger ones in the activities visual support. Cut each one out and place a small piece of Velcro on the back of each Then match them to the small boxes on the right side of each orange activity description on the following pages. When preparing to attend the Haunted Woods, you can use the park map and orange activity descriptions to explain what to expect about the evening to your child. The smaller pictures can be moved from the activity description and positioned on the map in their corresponding place. Have your child move the pictures from the activity description to the map in the sequence you plan to follow. Any activities you do not feel your child will enjoy do not need to be reviewed or placed on the map. 3 of the activities have yellow boxes provided in which you can discuss and write down a n appropriate response you know your child is able to perform. It may even be a good idea to practice this response with your child while reviewing the evening s activities. Lastly, we ve provided a simple visual way for you to gauge the level of sensory stimulation and fright potential with each activity. This will help you make decisions in advance as to whether or not your child will enjoy participating in them. You ll see each activity has from 1-3 bats above the spot for the smaller picture. 1 bat indicates the activity will not provide excessive stimulation or noise, though there may be brief periods of waiting. 2 bats indicate the activity will provide some visual stimulation, movement or noise, and there may be periods of waiting involved. 3 bats indicate the activity will provide distinct visual stimulation or darkness, sudden movements or noise, and there may be periods of waiting involved.
