Rich Gavin, the scheduled reporter had mechanical problems with his rig, so Sherrie Risberg, editor, filled in as the reporter. The February campout was held at the Good Sams of Florida Winter Rally in Tallahassee, February 15-19. The rally was held at the North Florida Fairgrounds on Paul Russell Rd. in Tallahassee and the theme was Be My Valentine. The weather was awesome all week with a short rainy morning on Saturday. George and Lorretta Redderoth and Ken and Sherrie Risberg arrived early to help set up as part of the state staff and were parked with staff. Don and Tressa Dishman and John and Sue Johnson arrived as part of the early birds on Tuesday and were parked with Getaway Sams. Pat and Jack Dean and Bruce and Jan Duvall arrived on Wednesday and parked as Sunset Ramblers. Tuesday evening was early bird bingo. Tressa, Sue, George, Lorretta, Ken and Sherrie all played. Sue won a game but had to split her winnings with another player. George is now helping in the kitchen and we started off Wednesday with sausage biscuits. Several of us took time for shopping at the vendors. Ken is now the vendor coordinator and we had several new vendors to check out. That afternoon it was time for Lorretta s new job, indoor games. Tressa and Sue enjoyed playing Hand and Foot. Sherrie is still the historian so she was busy taking pictures. That night it was time for opening ceremonies. Pat and Jack did a great job carrying our Sunset Rambler flag. Tressa and John carried the flag for North Florida Lifetime Sams. While we were attending opening ceremonies, Jack and Pat s Hershey got into rolls and ate them package and all. They watched him overnight and took him to the vet on Thursdayan expensive visit but all did turn out well in the end. Later that evening after the opening entertainment, our former ASD, Sharon Bundy lost her newlywed husband of 11 months, Frank Wyatt. It was quick and totally unexpected; our hearts and prayers go out to all of the Bundy s and Wyatt s. Her address for anyone wanting to send a card is P.O. Box 28294, Jacksonville, 32226. Thursday brought beanbag baseball, chapter raffles, shopping, seminars, door prizes and more indoor games. We had hot dogs for lunch and enjoyed the busy day. Tressa had fun playing Mexican train dominos. Jan and Bruce enjoyed looking at the new rigs and stopped to talk to Ken and Sherrie. That night it was time for Bingo. George, Lorretta, Tressa, Sue, Pat, Bruce and Jan all played. Tonight s winner was Pat. She won a game worth $30 and did not have to split her money. Congrats to all the bingo winners. Friday we enjoyed starting our day with sausage gravy and biscuits. George had built a propane oven so the biscuits were toasty warm. Pat did a great job

Page 2 speaking on our behalf at the first timer s meeting. Holey board was the outdoor game of the day but like baseball it was played inside. The buildings in Tally are great for keeping us out of the weather. Lunch was a fundraiser for Florida Eagle Sams and the BBQ was good. Ice cream was a served and enjoyed by all. Tressa enjoyed sitting outside with Maggie. At entertainment that night, Jan and Bruce and John and Sue enjoyed dancing to the music. Sue and Tressa joined in the line dancing. Saturday morning it was Krispy Kreme donuts. Good thing we keep moving to work off all the food. Bocci ball was canceled due to the rainy morning. About lunch time, the sun came back out and the beautiful weather continued. It was great to be in shorts during the day and a light jacket at night. That afternoon, Tressa attended the seminar Sherrie taught on Boggy Creek Bears. It was well received and we should be having another one in Okeechobee. There were samples to see of each stage of making a bear. Saturday night after the entertainment we had lots and lots of door prizes and Jan won $25 at Bob Evans. Several of us won door prizes from the table during the week. Sunday morning brought out the waving good bye from the staff. Thru out camp you could hear see you in Okeechobee, see you next time, had a great time, safe travels etc Birthdays 1/18 Herb Sheldon 2/1 Sarah Edmondson 2/13 Rich Gavin 2/20 Paul Newton 2/27 Don Dishman 3/13 Sue Johnson 3/14 Ray Storey 3/15 Ken Risberg 4/8 Lorretta Redderoth 4/11 George Clark 4/17 Becky Clark 5/4 Bruce Duvall 5/12 Larry Schmuhl 5/16 Sherrie Risberg 5/22 Ken Cody 5/24 Bob Edmondson 6/1 Billy Rogers 6/14 Digna Rivera 7/9 Ray Rivera Chapter Meeting Information We did not have a meeting. Wagon Master Information Reminder: please send Rich Gavin, wagon master and Rich Frederick, president, an email, or make a phone call with your plans for every campout!! Please let them know if you are or are not coming to the campout. Communication is important. Campgrounds ask questions, people get worried when you don t come at your normal time.
