Dear Council Travelers, We are pleased to sponsor Hamilton s Caribbean: Barbados to Antigua, a unique opportunity to uncover the forgotten connections between the Caribbean and 18th-century America on a delightful winter voyage aboard the historic ship Sea Cloud. Explore lush gardens and charming colonial towns, and swim or snorkel from exquisite white-sand beaches. Embark Sea Cloud in Barbados and cruise to St. Lucia for a soak in mineral-rich mud baths; visit the house where Hamilton was born on Nevis; and on St. Kitts discover the UNESCO-listed site of a decisive battle in the American Revolution. Take an architectural walking tour on Dutch-accented St. Eustatius, and soak up the je ne sais quoi of St. Barthélemy. Call at Îles des Saintes to learn about its 1782 conflict between the British and the French, then disembark in Antigua. An optional prelude in Barbados includes a visit to the former home of George Washington and other sites. Sea Cloud is a destination unto herself. Watch as her energetic crew scales the masts to set the sails by hand, and relax in the congenial company of members of the Smithsonian Institution. Onboard lectures will provide educational enrichment. You will be joined by G. Philip Hughes, the former U.S. Ambassador to Barbados and the East Caribbean; and Ralph Nurnberger, a professor at Georgetown University who will lecture for the Smithsonian. We share this program with other educational study tour groups. We hope you will join us for this unique exploration of stunning landscapes and surprising legacies. As an added enticement, we are offering an Special Autumn Incentive.
