Day 1 Friday 21 December Home to Maitland D Welcome to our 8 day Christmas Tour to Kiama on the stunning NSW south coast. Our destination today is Maitland where tonight we will visit the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular! With over 1.5 million Christmas lights on show, there are enough lights to cover a football oval and 19kms of string lighting! It will be a perfect start to our Christmas tour. Accommodation:- Old Maitland Inn, Rutherford - 02 4932 5255 Day 2 Saturday 22 December Maitland to Kiama B L D Today we continue south on the outskirts of Sydney travelling through to Campbelltown Catholic Club where we have arranged lunch. Following lunch we head towards the south coast to Kiama where we arrive at our accommodation overlooking Kiama harbor. The stylish 4.5 star Sebel Harbourside reflects both the modern and historic aspects of Kiama. The beautifully restored 1871 heritage bluestone school building is now the meeting centre and the sleek resort building of contemporary waterfront accommodation is the perfect place to base ourselves for the next four nights. Day 3 Sunday 23 December Kiama & Minnamurra B L D This morning we take a sightseeing tour of this pretty seaside town including a visit to the famous Blowhole which can spurt up to 60 metres high. Kiama is a popular seaside township which is characterised by dramatic rocky coastline, sandy beaches and an attractive harbour. Situated on Blowhole Point adjacent to the Visitors Centre, the Pilot s Cottage Museum tells the story of Kiama s colourful past from the time of the cedar cutters to the basalt quarrymen and dairy farmers. Next we travel into Jamberoo Valley to visit the Minnamurra Rainforest Centre. The Centre is full of information and Aboriginal artefacts on display. You might also find that perfect little present or souvenir in the Centres gift shop. Time to wander the network of elevated walkways through the rare remnant rainforest that once reached throughout the Illawarra. Feel your senses awakening as you listen to the birds, feel the spray of the waterfalls and spot rainforest residents perhaps the superb lyrebird, eastern water dragon or swamp wallaby. We enjoy a picnic lunch while we're absorbing the breathtaking views and the natural beauty of the area. Back in Kiama we have time at leisure to enjoy the quaint seaside township.
Day 4 Monday 24 December Jervis Bay & Nowra B D We make our way south along the Princes Highway to Huskisson where we embark on a Dolphin cruise on Jervis Bay. Experience the thrill of sighting Jervis Bay resident pod bottlenose dolphins, the opportunity to cruise under the awe inspiring cliffs of Point Perpendicular, relax and enjoy the unspoilt contrasting scenery and the white sandy beaches. See the local sea birds such as the white breasted sea eagles, crested terns, yellow headed boobies shearwaters and pelicans. The boat has 2 decks for uninterrupted viewing and we ll enjoy informative commentary on the bay s history as well as morning tea. Back on land we have some time in Huskisson to purchase lunch and have a look around. We meander back towards Kiama with a stop in Berry to explore this unique village. Amble along Queen and Albert streets and Old Creamery Lane and browse locally made gourmet products, sweet treats, elegant wines and other delights. At the Treat Factory, discover how they make chocolates and preserves. We may also have some time this afternoon for a look at Kiama's Historic Terrace Houses which were originally built for the local quarry workers in 1886. These National Trust classified historic buildings now house a unique selection of crafts, collectables and clothing stores. Day 5 Tuesday 25 December Christmas Day B L D This morning we enjoy a leisurely breakfast with time to attend Christmas Church Services for those who wish to do so. Our Christmas lunch is in our hotel today as they are known on the coast as one of the best restaurants who provide Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. Enjoy a spectacular seafood buffet with hot and cold selections, delicious salads, traditional Christmas treats and decadent desserts! It will be a relaxing day with time in the afternoon to maybe take a beach walk, re visit the blowhole or simply enjoy the hotel facilities. Did you know that in January 1889 a performer by the name of Charles Jackson attracted large crowds to see his crossings of the mouth of the Blowhole on a tightrope! A light supper will be served later this evening. Day 6 Wednesday 26 December Kiama to Parramatta B L D We say farewell to our hosts early this morning and head up into the hills over Cambewarra Mountain and through Kangaroo Valley. We drive over the historic Hampden Bridge built in 1898 which is the combination of wooden suspension bridge and English Medieval towers representing a castle portcullis. Further on we come to the Fitzroy Falls Visitors Centre located in the middle of the cool rainforest of the Moreton National Park. Enjoy a walk along the boardwalk through restored native bushland to a lookout at the top of the Fitzroy Falls. From here we make our way through to the Moss Vale Services Club for lunch. We then make our way north along the highway to our Parramatta accommodation with some time at leisure before dinner. Accommodation:- Parkroyal Hotel, Parramatta - 02 9689 3333 Day 7 Thursday 27 December Parramatta to Tamworth B L D Following breakfast, we take to the road again driving through Windsor to join the Putty Road through the Wollemi National Park. The Putty Road was opened in 1823 and was the first road from Sydney to the Hunter Valley. We stop to enjoy morning tea at The Grey Gum International Café set in the middle of nowhere. Our journey takes us through the wine growing area of the Hunter Valley and thoroughbred horse breeding areas of Muswellbrook where we have arranged lunch at the Muswellbrook RSL club. This afternoon we head to Tamworth, the Country Music Capital of Australia for our final night on tour. Accommodation:- Mercure Hotel, Tamworth - 02 6765 1200 Day 8 Friday 28 December Tamworth to Home B L What a fabulous time we have had! We make our way home today departing Tamworth after a leisurely breakfast. We stop at the Glen Innes RSL Club for lunch. This afternoon sit back and relax arriving home with many wonderful memories of our Christmas holiday in Kiama.
Terms & Conditions of Travel Acceptance of Terms & Conditions It is understood by Northland Coach & Travel that the terms and conditions of travel are accepted by the passenger when the deposit is paid. Payments, Cancellations and Refunds Bookings can be made by completing the booking form and a deposit per person is required within 7 days of booking to confirm your seat. All balance payments must be received by Northland Coach & Travel within the date specified prior to the tour commencement. Payments are available to be made by cash, cheque, eftpos and direct deposit. Northland Coach & Travel also reserves the right to cancel this tour due to insufficient numbers and in this instance a substitute date will be offered or a full refund will be made available. Cancellation Policy The following fees apply according to the notice given:- 60 days or more prior to the commencement of the tour forfeit deposit paid 59 30 days prior to commencement of tour 20% of total fare to be paid 29 14 days prior to commencement of tour 40% of total fare to be paid 13 8 days prior to commencement of tour 50% of total fare to be paid 7 days or less no refund payable. Where a non refundable ticket is pre purchased this will be in addition to the cancellation fee. If the tour has already commenced, no refund of fare or unused portion of the tour can be given.
