The Forty Seventh Florida History- Not all Treasures Are Silver & Gold Welcomes Scouts Jan. 26-27, 2018 Thank you for your interest in the Scout Adventure. What is the? The is a pre-1840 living history encampment, where participants/re-enactors live in camps portraying and demonstrating life skills of various Early American cultures, i.e.; British, Irish, Scottish, Spanish and Native American. At last year s gathering, over 1,000 lodges were set up housing well over 1,600 people. Traders Row consists of over a hundred traders selling everything from kettle corn and homemade root beer, to beads, toys and period clothing of all sorts. Costs The price for scouts (11 years or older) and leaders is $8.00 per person. Here is what you get for your money: 2 nights camping (Fri. & Sat.), admission to the Rendezvous Primitive area on Saturday 9-4, and an Alafia patch for each paying camper. The price is the same whether you camp 2 nights or 1 night!!! Only registered groups, that camp, will get the Alafia patch. We strongly recommend that you check the weather forecast before coming out to Alafia so you can make proper clothing and gear choices. One year (2003) it got below freezing. Wear comfortable shoes.

Basic Information Scout Masters: Please print this out and go over them with your group so they will know the rules of our event. Thank you. Arrival time starts at 5:00 pm Friday please coordinate arrival time with your group. At the gate you will receive your packet and each car will be labeled with the troop number. The registration gate will be open Saturday morning at 8:00 for questions or additional patches. Please keep your scouts in the scout camping area Friday night and Saturday after 4:00, they need to be with an adult chaperon at all times. The gates open into the Primitive encampment at 9:00 Saturday morning. The patch you receive will be your ticket in and out of the event. All scouts and others with your unit should have their patch displayed on their person, either pinned to their shirt or strung around their neck while in the Primitive Rendezvous area. The Primitive Area is closed to all visitors at 4:00; please have your scouts leave at this time. When visiting the Primitive Rendezvous area the scouts must be accompanied by a scout leader at all times. When visiting individual camps, remember that this is someone s home. Do not enter anyone s tent without being invited. Do not touch other people s things unless you are invited to. The scout camp sites are primitive with no electric or running water. Potable water is available, but you must carry it to your campsite. There are no showers facilities. Port-a-Johns are the only toilet facilities. If any scout is found playing in or tipping the Port-a-Johns your entire troop will be sent home and not be allowed to return again. Firewood is not available for purchase; you need to bring your own. Each unit depending on its size needs to have at least one or two fire extinguishers in camp. Follow basic fire safety, have 5gal. Buckets of water around open campfires and keep fires a reasonable size. Use your best outdoor manners and be respectful of the other campers in the area, not too loud late at night, running through other campsites, ECT. Please police your area for trash before your unit vacates the camp. Remember leave no trace. You are responsible for your own garbage. If the dumpsters are full please take your garbage with you No youths/scouts should leave the scout camp area without adult supervision. Surrounding properties are off limits! The fence lines north and west are our property boundaries; please keep scouts away from the fence line. Violation of these rules could result in your group being evicted from the property and not being allowed to return in the future.

Registration Information This year we are requiring all scout groups to be preregistered and paid by December 1st. We are limiting camping again to scouts 11 years and older and their leaders only, no siblings or friends. Again this year there will be scout on-line registration at floridfrontiersmen.com. So, this is what I need by December 1st: Troop Registration form Check or on-line payment for total amount of registration fee Need the BSA Tour Permit as soon as it is approved, if required. Please email it to hullsusie@gmail.com. If you need to add scouts, let me know by January 15th and I will add the patches and you can give the additional m o n i e s to the gate as you arrive. At the time of arrival you will need to turn in the ad u lt and scout registration forms for each patch (please have them in a manila envelope with troop number written on it). If you need to cancel an entire troop, you must do so by January1st for a refund. Space is limited to 500 scouts and leaders, so to reserve a spot for your group; you need to get the registration back to me as soon as possible. Please send scout troop registration forms and check to: Susie Hull 1879 King Edward Dr. Kissimmee, FL 34744
