President s Letter by Skip Holmes In just a month it will be MHCC Century Weekend on September 12th and 13th. Mark your calendars! We now have a small group of members who have agreed to get the event planned and organized. They will need help from many of you to make this a success. We will need volunteers to assist with registration, marking the roads, scouting out the routes, working at the rest stops, getting the food, helping to clean up, etc. Some of the tasks can be done prior to the event so that you can still ride. Over the years that I have been involved with MHCC there are always a certain number of you who consistently volunteer your time to make Century Weekend a success. There are over 700 members out there, so please do not assume that the same folks want to do it every year. If you have never offered some time for this event which draw riders from all over the northeast, consider giving a couple hours to make it a great event. Food coordinator is David Cooper (dmcride@yahoo.com); Jude Sagor (judesagor@gmail.com) is the volunteer coordinator and Jonathon Benn (albanybenn@aol.com ) is the organizer. PLEASE consider volunteering for this year s Century, as we cannot do it without you. You may advance register for the MHCC Century by going to BikeReg.com or follow the link from the MHCC web page. Advance registration for members is only $35.00 for two days of riding. Day of registration will cost $45.00. Volunteers get to ride for free. You get a catered lunch with great food, rest stops, and marked roads. A reminder to all ride leaders. Our insurance policy provides participant insurance coverage for members on MHCC rides. The insurance policy states that non members are provided coverage for only their first ride with MHCC. On any subsequent rides non members are not provided participant coverage and MHCC is not afforded coverage for its other members, ride leaders and officers. The insurance benefit for members is medical coverage up to $10,000. This coverage is secondary to any primary medical insurance a member may have. It will cover bills that are not covered by the primary medical carrier, such as a co-pay. There have been several serious cycling accidents this year. Please ride using what is best described as situational awareness. Be alert, think ahead, and be prepared. Thanks and ride safe! 08.06-09 [ August 2015 ] WINDHAM WORLD CUP UCI Mtn Bike Race Windham, NY www.racewindham.com 08.09 CHAMPLAIN CANALWAY BIKE AND BOAT RIDE 50 or 30 Miles Ft.
