GVK MIAL hosts 3 rd International Flower Show GVK MIAL in association with the Mumbai Rose Society hosted the 3 rd International Flower Show from 9-10 Jan, 2016 at MIAL Colony. The flower show was inaugurated by Mrs Urvashi Thacker, a renowned bonsai expert and Trustee of Jamnabai Narsee School. The highlight of the show was an expansive stretch of green wall measuring 4000 sq. ft. Different varieties of flora from foreign countries as well as native breeds from different parts of India were showcased. These included flowers such as Roses, Lyliums, Chrysanthemum, Bird of Paradise, Gerberas, Antirrhinums, Carnations, Heliconias, Orchids and others. GVK MIAL is the only corporate in India to organize such a show which is as engaging as it is essential in encouraging and spreading the green cover in a city like Mumbai. Mr Rajeev Jain honoured as Distinguished Fellow of IOD for 2016 Mr Rajeev Jain has been honoured as the Distinguished Fellow of IOD for 2016 in recognition of his visionary leadership and hands-on management style by the The Institute of Directors (IOD), a not-for-profit apex national association of Corporate Directors in India. Each year, the Executive Council of the IOD nominates pre-eminent individuals for conferring the Distinguished Fellowship award in recognition of their outstanding contribution to public service and society. Crossword Book Fest at GVK CSIA GVK CSIA, Mumbai hosted the Crossword Book Fest from 19 Dec 2015 to 17 Jan 2016, a month-long fiesta for all the book-lovers. Based on the theme Read, Travel and Explore, the fest showcased a wide and fascinating range of books across different genres including national and international best-sellers, new arrivals and works by popular authors like Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Gregory Roberts, John Grisham, Ravi Subramanian, Sidney Sheldon, Twinkle Khanna and others. The highlight of the fest was the Children s Hour, a book reading session conducted by expert story-tellers for the children. Visitors at the Crossword Book Fest at GVK CSIA, Mumbai Tata Motors Jaguar on display at GVK CSIA T2 Tata Motors showcased the luxury car Jaguar at GVK CSIA T2 for International passengers. This promotion was aimed to highlight the high quality manufacturing expertise of India which is in line with the Make in India initiative.

Involved in various CSR initiatives, this accolade marks the first CSR specific award for GVK MIAL. Cultural Fest at GVK KIAB BIAL in collaboration with the Kannada & Culture department, Government of Karnataka celebrated Makara Sankranthi the harvest festival through a three-day long performing art spectacle at GVK KIAB. The festival entailed music and dance aimed at revitalizing the cultural senses of visiting guests and transiting passengers. GVK KIAB clocks over 18 million passengers in 2015 GVK KIAB crossed its 18 millionth passenger mark, thus recording a 25.2% growth in the overall traffic. The domestic passenger traffic showed a growth of 27.4% compared with the previous year while the International passenger traffic grew at 15.8% compared during the same period. During the last financial year, GVK KIAB clocked 15 million passengers marking the airport s graduation to the mid-sized airport category (15 to 25 million passenger airports) within just seven years of commencing operations.

Taj Mahotsav (18 February) Held annually in the historic city of Agra, the Taj Mahotsav is one of the most spectacular and celebrated events in the Indian calendar. Organized by Uttar Pradesh Tourism, this festival pays respect to the matchless cultural heritage of the state and the country as a whole. The visitors get to see a variety of art-forms from classical to folk, subtle classical to popular film songs etc. One may see this event as a concise and compact representation of the Indian cultural diversity that is coated in the fabric of a 5,000 year old history and mythology. Jaisalmer Desert Festival (20 February) One of the famous cultural events that dominates the sand of Rajasthan in the month of February is the popular Jaisalmer Desert Festival. It reflects the culture and heritage of Rajasthani people. The festival showcases some of the best cultural traditions that have remained with Rajasthan for years now. The Jaisalmer Desert Festival is sponsored by the Rajasthan State Tourism Corporation and is one of the most visited festivals of Jaisalmer City. The major attractions of the fest comprise snake charmers, puppeters, acrobats and folk performers etc. International Mother Language Day (21 February) International Mother Language Day is celebrated every year to promote the awareness of language and cultural diversity worldwide.
