The course is on a mix of terrain with some sections on paths. It is fairly flat, with one incline. The course passes around the lake and back towards the Hall. Please note that there is a kissing gate as you approach the lake please be patient with any bottlenecks. There will be marshals at various points along the route to guide you; however we have produced a site plan so you can familiarise yourself with the route. Our colour stations will be in clear view, and our powder throwers have been instructed to avoid throwing powder directly towards young children. Please do not stop at the colour stations. This will create a bottleneck and problems for runners behind you. The fun isn t over at the finish line After passing the finish line you will be given a packet of coloured powder and, every 15 minutes, we will countdown to a mass neon throw, which creates a huge neon cloud. At the end of the dash please report to the registration marquee where you will be given your goodie bag, a bottle of water and your medal. Family area To keep your family entertained while you are doing your dash we have a bouncy castle, fundraising stalls, face painting, a burger van with fresh coffee and cakes on sale. In our charity tent you can find neon tutus, sunglasses, leis, and a host of other items available for a donation.
FOR YOUR SAFETY RUNNING WITH CHILDREN Although our powder is non-toxic we advise that you avoid direct contact with very young children. Our colour stations are in clear view, and our powder throwers have been instructed to avoid throwing powder directly towards young children. We advise you be mindful when running past the stations. Please ensure you keep your children in sight at all times; if you do get separated from them, please head straight to the registration marquee or speak to someone on a colour station as they have two-way radios. LOST CHILDREN If you do find a lost child please bring them to the white registration marquee next to the warm up area. THE COLOUR POWDER The coloured powder used at the event is made from food-grade corn starch. It is 100% natural and causes no harm to skin or the environment. The powder used has been tested for flammability and successfully passed the required EU standards. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes and our colour throwers will make sure to aim sensibly as you pass by. You may wish to consider wearing glasses or goggles and use a bandana or dust mask over your mouth. We will have a supply of sunglasses available for sale in the fundraising marquee. HYDRATION We encourage all runners to bring a bottle of water with them to keep hydrated. All participants receive a bottle of water as they cross the finish line.
Some frequently asked questions Will the powder ruin clothes or running shoes? We suggest wearing items that you wouldn t mind getting colourful. The colour mostly washes out after the event. However, as with anything dirty, the sooner your clothes gets washed the better. Dust off all excess powder before washing with water. Will the powder stain my hair? The coloured powder does wash out of your hair; however, we do recommend you take precautions if you are concerned. The colour does tend to stick to lighter hair. Oiling your hair before the run will help the colour wash out. Bicarbonate of soda and anti-dandruff shampoo will help remove the more stubborn colour. Will I need to take care when going home? If you re driving or taking the bus, we suggest you bring something (towels, plastic, rubbish bags, etc.) to cover the seats before you sit down. Are cameras and phones safe in the colour zones? Our event photographers will be taking some long range pictures of the event. If you want to get shots right in the midst of the colour we recommend covering cameras/phones with plastic wrap. Is there anywhere to leave our bags on event day? All participants are advised not to bring large bags to the venue. Unfortunately, we cannot provide storage or bag drops. Can I run with a jogging buggy? You should be aware of the uneven terrain and also note there is a kissing gate as you approach the lake. What happens if there is bad weather? The Neon Dash will not be cancelled in bad weather unless it is unsafe to proceed.
