I would like to thank the Members and Ladies that came out to helping on clean up day at the beginning of May. Thanks to Members Dan Sullivan, Pete Fanfa, Tim Peterson, Walt Maguire, Nick Bragin, Tim Schuler, Rick Seguin, John Littlefield, Kurt Maschewski and Ladies Linda Maguire, Dolores Ostwald, Dorothy Bragin, Judy Murray, Cindy Martin, Pam Greenburg, and Cindy Fahey. The month of May brought us a successful Mother s Day breakfast. We were overwhelmed by the turnout. Special thanks to all the moms out there! The month of June has some great events coming up. The annual Troy Flag Day Parade is on June 9. Your officers will be walking and we ask that you join us. We re hosting a Steak Roast at the Lodge Pavilion on June 15. Loucks was installed at the Annual State Convention of the New York State Elks Association in May. Many Members and Ladies were there to help him celebrate (especially with the popular Jell-O shots in the hospitality room)! Page 4 June 2013 Volume 36, Number 3 Message from the President By President Linda Maguire Spring is well under way, and so many things have been happening around the Lodge. Spring clean-up was held on May 4. Seventeen Lodge and Ladies Auxiliary members worked very hard together and after three solid hours, the Lodge grounds looked beautiful. Thank you to all who helped. Mother's Day was a huge success. We served over 200 people who all enjoyed the wonderfully prepared breakfast buffet. I want to thank Dolores Ostwald, Theresa Sullivan, her daughter, Kellie Sullivan, Sharon O'Brien, and her daughter Jennifer Cuppett for serving and waitressing, and Todd Boomhower for helping with coffee service and clean up. Dale was installed as State Vice President at the Hilton in Albany. It was a wonderful evening for all who attended the installation ceremony, and we are all very proud of Dale. Monday, May 27th was a beautiful day for a parade. The Lodge and Ladies Auxiliary members marched in the Poestenkill Memorial Day Parade. Back at the Lodge, Exalted Ruler John Phillips, and his team, did a great job of preparing the chickens with John's famous barbeque sauce. Thank you to the Ladies who contributed salads, baked potatoes, and brownies. Congratulations go out Heather Silvernail for a very successful Chicken Barbeque and Flea Market. You did a terrific job and we raised a lot of money for Cerebral Palsy! The Lodge has decided to have a Father's Day breakfast this year. Please make your reservations early. Its a wonderful way to start the day, and treat your dad to a great breakfast at the Lodge. All help is greatly appreciated. The Ladies are once again to having our sheets fundraiser. Stephanie Silvernail is Chairperson. Sheets are 1200 Thread count, 100% Egyptian cotton, come in all sizes, and in a variety of solid colors. The price is $45.00 for any size sheet set. New this year, our vendor is offering comforters to match the sheets. Now is the time to start thinking gift giving, and these sheets and/or comforters make terrific gifts. Delivery date will be sometime in December, just in time for Christmas. There is a collection box in the coatroom for donations. The Ladies' general meeting on June 20 will start at 6:00 with a potluck supper. Judy Murray is Chairperson. We hope all our Auxiliary Sisters are able to attend. If you want to participate in the potluck dinner, please contact Judy Murray at 279-3921 or murray128@nycap.rr.com and let her know what culinary delight you wish to bring. We will hold our regular meeting after dinner, and then enjoy the wonderful desserts. We will also be honoring our Past Presidents and Charter Members.
