Start Your Engines Event Wrap-ups Page 4 2013 Northcoast Miata Club Picnic Wrap-up The date was July 13, 2013 and the weather did cooperate with us. It was not stiflingly hot but was definitely hot enough especially for our great cooks Denny Moeller, Joe Wilick and Dave McCuen. Start Your Engines Event Wrap-ups Page 5 JOE & SANDY WILICK S SUMMER TOUR On a rainy Saturday morning, July 20th, we met in Twinsburg to begin a tour to the McKinley Birthplace Home and the McKinley Memorial Library. Upon arrival in Niles we met up with an additional car. Our first stop was the McKinley Birthplace Home where we had a wonderful guide named Carrie Kibby who talked about the site. She was extremely informative and an excellent speaker. Our next stop was the Memorial and Auditorium where we saw a short film and memorabilia from the McKinley era. Then it was off to lunch across the street. Everyone said the food was tasty but we did have to wait a long time for our food. Obviously they don t get crowds of 30 people at a time very often. After lunch we walked back to our cars where Dan and Joanne Incorvati provided us with a variety of delicious fruit for dessert. Then it was back on the road again to visit the Mill Creek Metroparks. Our first stop was the Fellows Riverside Gardens where we spent an hour on our own viewing the beautiful grounds. Flowers and bridal parties were everywhere. Next was a visit to Lanterman s Mill. Thanks to Greg O Neal at the mill we were allowed to drive our cars on a private road over a covered bridge and park right next to the mill. There we learned the history of the mill and toured the several floors. Everyone was still full from lunch, so we all got in our cars and headed for home. We would like to thank Dan and Joanne Incorvati for bringing the fruit and Scott Miller, Jared Fonner, Jim and Marilyn Nenadal for being our sweeps. They all did a fantastic job. A big thank you to all the members who did not let the inclement weather spoil what turned out to be a beautiful day. They are Art & Maureen Davis, Doug & Carol Leavens, Jim & Marilyn Nenadal, Scott Miller, Jared Fonner, Dan & Joanne Incorvati, Len & Nancy Monaco, Jeff & Lisa Kramer, Bill & Sharon Proctor, Daryl & Jane Baker, Linda & George Eisenzimmer, Bill & Ruth Drew, Jan & Bob Stefancic, Rich & Linda Placko, Roger Davies & Carolyn.

I will have more details about the upcoming Boo Tour in the September newsletter, so stay tuned.

Start Your Engines Westside Market Tour Page 9 West Side Market Tour Hosted by Jeff & Lisa Kramer Please join us on Wednesday, September 25 th for a tour to Cleveland s West Side Market. The current West Side Market building opened in 1912. In 1973 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is also listed in Frommer s list of America s Best Public Markets. In the September 2010 issue of Food Network Magazine, the West Side Market was named America's "Best Food Lovers' Market We will start the tour in the morning and will take city roads to the West Side Market. Once at the market each car will be assigned an item to purchase. After time exploring the market we will drive along the Lakeshore to Huntington Beach for a picnic lunch consisting of the items that were assigned (this is an idea we ve shamelessly stolen from the Simmelink s Chautauqua tour). Please bring a cooler for the picnic item you are assigned to purchase (as well as for any other items that may catch your fancy). Please also bring a non-alcoholic beverage to enjoy at our picnic lunch. This tour is more about seeing a historical area of Cleveland than about driving Miata roads but we still anticipate an enjoyable drive. If you are interested in joining us, please call Lisa at 440-230-6016 or email lisakramer23@hotmail.com We hope you will join us!
