PLACES TO EXPLORE Camp Peairs, Lake Bloomington Camp Peairs consists of 88 wooded acres situated on Lake Bloomington. The site is ideal for troop camping, events and cookouts. Campers can choose to sleep in the ized lodge where cooking and bathroom facilities. When it s warm, cabins are open. The site has central flush toilets and showers. Waterfront activities, including boating, require properly trained individuals according to Girl Scout safety standards. Camp Peairs is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association. Camp Kiwanis, Mahomet Come discover this 55 acre wooded site that sits adjacent to the forest preserve district and Lake of the Woods Park. It is perfect for first time campers as it includes three ized lodges that include fireplaces, electricity, bathrooms (inside or nearby) and kitchen facilities. For those interested in a challenge, tents are available for reservation with a fire ring for outdoor cooking and nearby hiking trails. Security lighting is found throughout the site. The Sangamon River borders this property. Camp Kiwanis is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association. Camp Widjiwagan, Lake Springfield Conveniently located on Lake Springfield, Widji is a 67 acre wooded haven used for troop camping, day camping, council events and trainings. Campers enjoy a variety of accommodations from three heated lodges with electricity, kitchens and fireplaces to Conestoga wagons and tent cabins. Bathroom facilities are located inside the lodges and within a centrally located showerhouse. Security lighting is found throughout the site. A double decker high ropes course, 40 foot climbing tower, zipline and low element challenge course was added in 2011. Aquatic activities, including a swimming pool and a waterfront for boating, require properly trained individuals according to Girl Scout safety standards. Camp Widjiwagan is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association. This site has an on-site camp ranger. Camp Tapawingo, Metamora Explore the forested rolling hills of this 640 acre camp. This site is ideal for troop camping, service area events and outdoor picnics. Camp Tapawingo caters to the progressive outdoor experience. The cornerstone of this property is Mary Morgan Lodge, a 12,000 square foot, air conditioned, multi-level dining hall and troop program center and as well as our beautiful Equestrian Center. A number of unit houses are available for troop camping that include electricity, bathroom and kitchen facilities, hot water and electric heat. To the experienced camper, platform tents are available. Bathrooms are available inside all unit houses and shower facilities are centrally located at the showerhouse from mid-april to mid-october. Equestrian lessons, trail rides, a swimming pool, high and low ropes course and archery range are activities that are available throughout the year through council-sponsored events and summer resident camp. Camp SOAR, Litchfield GSCI s newest property, located in Litchfield, is halfway between Springfield, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri. The 70- acre property is built on Illinois wooded rolling hills and features: in-ground swimming pool, miniature golf, paddleboats, playgrounds, four ponds, fishing, on-site laundry, horseshoes, hiking trails and much more.
Camp SOAR property is open to the public year round and features over 160 RV sites (many with water and sewer hook-ups), tent sites, large and small cabins and the Whitworth House which sleeps 24 perfect for that staff retreat or family reunion. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. Campsites range from full hookup (water/sewer/electric) to partial hook-up and primitive tent sites. SOAR also has pull-through sites available, as well as 10 to 50 amp electric availability. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. Some sites have water and electric available. Five mini log cabins are available for groups or families to rent throughout the warm season months, April 15 to October 31. Each cabin sleeps 6 individuals on bunk beds. The partial kitchens include a hot plate, microwave, and dorm fridge. Linens are not provided in the mini cabins. Linens and towels are provided. Most cottages have a deck overlooking the pond, a full kitchen, coffee pot, and toaster, and some have dishwashers as well. Cottages have both heating and air conditioning. The house has a large bunkroom that sleeps 16 people on bunk beds and four bedrooms and a pullout couch. The entire house sleeps a total of 26 people. The master bedroom has a king bed and private bath. Linens and towels are provided. Savannah Place has a full kitchen, two living rooms, and formal dining room. A coffee pot, toaster, dishwasher, and TV/DVD player are provided. Near the Lodge and Savannah Place, a small, private bungalow is available for rent. This facility sleeps two and includes air conditioning, a bathroom/shower, and a partial kitchen with a hot plate, microwave, coffee pot, and toaster. Our dining hall, SOAR Center, can be rented during the day. It has seating for 50 people and includes a great serving bar for catered meals. The commercial kitchen is available for groups with a food handler s license. Would be a great place for troop meetings or badgework. Open from April 15 to October 31 and is available for day rental. It is a great building for poolside BBQs and troop gatherings. The activity center next to the pool includes tables and a kitchen area with a refrigerator, stove, sink, microwave, and serving bar. The picturesque landscape at Camp SOAR allows for great photography or picnic spots.

Contact siterental@girlscouts-gsci.org or 888-623-1237 ext. 1623. Service Center Reservations: Contact your local service center. 2. Before reservations are finalized, GSCI must receive: Online Reservation or Paper Reservation Form Full payment Confirmation of required training (First Aid/CPR and Outdoor Training) 4. Your confirmation packet will include GSCI facility procedures, packing list, directions to camp and cleaning checklist. This will be automatically emailed if reserving online. 5. Groups will be charged for any damage due to negligence or vandalism. Cancellations Groups who wish to cancel their reservation must provide notice by the cancellation deadline: 10 days prior to the event for groups renting individual units, or 30 days for groups renting entire camps. If this deadline has been met, payment may be applied to future reservations within one year or a non-refundable $25 processing fee will be charged. Excessive cancellations will jeopardize future rental privileges. The council reserves the right to cancel events because of hazardous site conditions. In this case, all fees will be refunded.
