After attending The Naval Academy and Harvard graduate school, Mr. James served the Navy for 27 years as a fighter pilot as well as having worked in private business. He currently resides on the Lynnhaven River where he maintains a residential oyster reef and is in training to become a Virginia Master Naturalist. See you at The Princess Anne Country Club at 10:30a.m. to hear more about the fascinating world of oystering and how it impacts our waterways and our residents. The Virginia Beach Garden Club Holiday Social and Membership Meeting Wednesday December 13, 2017 The Home of Dee Oliver and Boyd Melchor Attendance: Active Members 57 Associates 11 The meeting was called to order by President Molly Ill at 4:14 p.m. Ellen Sinclair read the collect. The minutes from the November meeting were approved. Officer and Committee Reports Treasurer, Ann Crenshaw- General Funds: $39,744.16; Ways and Means: $16,294.94; Small Flower Show Fund: $1,500; Total Balance: $57,539.10. Assistant Treasurer, Ann Malbon reported a net profit of $24,500.32 for the FFF. FFF 2018- a motion was presented by Meredith Rutter to hold the 2018 FFF on October 2 nd and 3 rd. A vote was taken by the President and the motion carried for the 2018 FFF. Nominating Committee- Mary Denny, Chair of the Nominating Committee presented the Admissions Committee Slate. Lou Flowers moved that the membership accept the slate for the Admissions Committee. A vote was taken and the motion carried. The slate for the Admissions Committee for 2017-2018 is Joan Lyons, Emily Mills, Lee Trant and Karen Woodard. HGW, Joan Stumborg will have a signup sheet available for HGW. New Business and Announcements: Molly Ill will email an Interest Form to those who have not yet filled one out. GCV daffodil bulbs may be picked up from Connie Owen. Meg Campbell is recovering from a bad fall. Emily Mills welcomed a new grandchild. The Ground Cover will be available shortly. Molly thanked Dee Oliver for hosting the Holiday Social in her lovely home. Appreciation was given to Head Hostesses, Jodie Berndt and Emily Mills as well as their committee for the wonderful holiday celebration.
