RESOURCES Owning up of natural resources that are key to successful power generation is a positive step, in strengthening the core business of Energy and ensuring fuel security. Coal Australia GVK has acquired a strategic equity stake in Alpha Coal, Kevins Corner and Alpha West Coal projects located in Queensland, Australia from Hancock Coal Pty. Ltd. with total resources of about 8 billion tonnes and a capacity of more than 80 million tonnes per annum. When combined, these projects will create one of the largest thermal coal mining operations in the world. GVK has also acquired 100% stake in the proposed 500 km rail line and a 75 million tonnes per annum port as part of the pit-to-port logistics solution. India - Tokisud and Seregarha Tokisud and Seregarha captive coal mining operations in Jharkhand are a strategic backward integration move supporting GVK s coal fired power projects in India. Oil and Gas GVK in partnership with BHP Billiton, one of the world s largest diversified natural resource companies, has been awarded 7 exploration blocks of about 35,000 sq km off the west coast of India.

AIRPORTS GVK made its foray into the aviation sector when it bagged the mandate to operate, manage and develop Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) in Mumbai. Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) is currently implementing a master plan that has been designed to have an integrated passenger terminal at Sahar by 2013, to cater to passenger traffic of 40 million per annum. MIAL s Vision is to transform CSIA into one of the world s best airports that consistently delights customers and be the pride of Mumbai. GVK further increased its presence in the airports sector with the acquisition of 43% stake in Bengaluru International Airport, which is in line with GVK s strategic objective of expanding into airport business. GVK handles a total traffic of 44 million passengers per annum, making it India s largest private sector airport operator. The Successful MIAL and BIAL ventures have earned GVK group international recognition. The Indonesian Government has invited GVK to develop two new Greenfi eld airports in North Bali and Yogyakarta. GVK has already completed the feasibility analysis for both the airports and the process of preparing the master plan will begin shortly.
TRANSPORTATION Transportation has always been viewed as one of the key enablers to the country s development and GVK has set off at an accelerated pace in this segment. The Jaipur Kishangarh Expressway, six-lane BOT project, has received international accolades for quality and timely execution. Completed 6 months ahead of its schedule, the Expressway handles over 24000 vehicles a day with a yearly traffic of 8.7 million vehicles.
