International Association of University Presidents Semi-Annual Conference Gold Coast, Australia October 14 16, 2015

Welcome Vice-Chancellor s Message It is with great pleasure I welcome you to Australia for the International Association for University Presidents Semi-Annual Conference, October 2015. The Gold Coast is Australia s leading tourism destination with its stunning coastline, sub-tropical climate and natural beauty. The spectacular environment combined with modern infrastructure attracts many thousands of university students who call this special place home. With the Gold Coast s diverse offering of education and training delivered in a clean, modern and safe environment, the region is the perfect backdrop for students from all over the globe to come and learn. It is also the perfect location for the IAUP Semi-Annual Conference. My team and I look forward to hosting a productive, enjoyable and memorable conference. We have designed a most interesting program schedule which will focus on the big issues and challenges facing higher education today and how best, as leaders, we can respond to them. While still providing ample time to network with old and new friends in a variety of unique locations to capture the genuine taste of Queensland and an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of our unusual native animals. I look forward to a rich discussion during our conference along with some excellent opportunities for networking, and I hope you will take advantage of these. Thank you for joining us at this year s International Conference at Bond University. Kind regards, Professor Tim Brailsford Vice-Chancellor and President

About Bond Modelled on some of the world s best educational institutions, the vision for Australia s first private, not-for-profit university is to provide an educational experience of the highest international standards under the tutelage of the country s leading academics. Located on a 50-hectare campus at Robina on Queensland s Gold Coast, Bond University welcomed its first cohort of 322 students on May 15, 1989. When those foundation students graduated, they were quickly recruited by some of Australia s largest corporations. Their subsequent achievements in the workplace firmly established Bond s reputation for the excellence of its graduates. In the quarter century since then, Bond has emerged as one of Australia s highest rating universities, consistently achieving the maximum five-star rating across key educational classifications in the Good Universities Guide and other independent reviews. As a boutique educational environment, it has the ability to adapt quickly to the needs of the workplace, liaising with key employers across all industries to develop programs that reflect the current technological, theoretical and psychological practicalities of the employment environment. Identifying emerging areas of skills shortage, the curriculum has expanded to include new and in-demand disciplines such as forensic science, medicine, sports science, sustainable development and health sciences. Our research facilities now totalling 19 on-campus research centres attract world renowned academics, working with state-of-the-art technologies and resources to develop cutting edge innovations. And we are constantly updating our facilities, equipped with the very latest and emergent technologies, to ensure our students have access to the best of the best and are fully prepared for exciting careers in the global marketplace.
