INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Please count, identify and compare parts to the hardware and parts list on the preceding page to be sure all parts are present. You will also need a flat head screw driver, drill, ¼ drill bit, tape measure, and a 24 level. Make sure to keep all combustible items away from the fireplace when the gel fuel is burning. DO NOT touch the fireplace when the gel fuel is burning. DO NOT mount the fireplace on a wall that is covered with wood paneling or wallpaper. 1. Locate the fireplace on a solid wall and at a comfortable height off the floor, normally eye level. 2. 3. Measure the wall and mark the location of the center of each of the three screw mounting holes. See Figure 2. Using the power drill and ¼ drill bit, drill three ¼ holes through the wallboard at the mounting hole marks. NOTICE Make sure not to drill into electrical wiring or plumbing pipes. 5. Insert one of the furnished plastic anchors into each of the three ¼ holes. See Figure 3. Make sure that the wall anchor is flush with the wall. NOTE It may be necessary to use a small hammer to gently tap the anchor into place. 6. Using the flat head screwdriver, install one Pan Head Screw into each of the anchors. See Figure 3. Turn the screw in until there is a gap of 5/8 between the head of the screw and the wall surface. 5/8 Figure 3 Wall Anchor Installation 7. Install the fireplace (1, Figure 4) onto the three mounting screws using the mounting holes (2, Figure 4). The 3
proper and secure mounting of the fireplace is when the top edge of each of the mounting holes is resting securely on the mounting screw (3, Figure 4). NOTICE Using the level, check to make sure that the fireplace is horizontally level and vertically plumb (straight up and down). 1 2 3 Figure 4 Install Fireplace 8. Remove the three fuel canister holders (2, Figure 5) from the fireplace and install one gel fuel canister (1, Figure 5) into each of the holders. 4
NOTICE Make sure to remove the gel fuel canisters paper label (4, Figure 5) before installing the canister into the holder. Shake the gel fuel canister before installing it into the canister holder. Figure 5 Fuel Canister Holder and Gel Fuel Canister 9. Install the gel fuel holders into the fireplace into the appropriate mounting hole (3, Figure 5) in the fireplace. 10. Following the instructions on the gel fuel canister, remove the lid (2, Figure 6) from the gel fuel canister (1, Figure 6), and using a long match, light the fuel in each of the canisters. DANGER PROLONGED USE OF THE GEL FUEL IN THE FIREPLACE WILL CAUSE THE FIREPLACE TO BECOME HOT AND POTENTIALLY CAN CAUSE BURNS IF TOUCHED. DO NOT BURN MORE THAN THREE CANISTERS OF FUEL AT ONE TIME. BEFORE LIGHTING THE FUEL, MAKE SURE THAT THE PAPER LABEL IS REMOVED FROM EACH OF THE GEL FUEL CANISTERS. USE LONG MATCHES TO LIGHT EACH CANISTER OF FUEL. DO NOT TOUCH THE CANISTERS WITH BARE HANDS UNTIL THE FLAME HAS BEEN EXTINGUISHED FOR 20 MINUTES. DO NOT BURN ANYTHING EXCEPT THE SPECIFIED CANISTERS OF GEL FUEL IN THE FIREBOX. KEEP CHILDREN AWAY FROM THE FIREPLACE WHEN IN USE. KEEP FLAMABLE OBJECTS, SUCH AS CURTAINS OR DRAPERYS, AWAY FROM THE FIREPLACE WHEN THE GEL FUEL HAS BEEN IGNITED. MAKE SURE THE CUSTOMER DOES NOT PLACE ANY DECORATIVE ITEMS ON TOP OF THE UNIT AT ANYTIME. DO NOT TOUCH THE UPPER PART OF THE UNIT WHILE IT IS STILL IN OPERATION OR LIE. THE CANDLE HOLD HOLDER ACTS AS A COVER TO PUT OUT FIRE IF ONE WISHS TO STOP THE FLAME. 6
