ROOFBAG INSTALLATION Cars WITHOUT Rack STANDARD METHOD: PASS- THROUGH STRAPS ALTERNATE METHOD: DOOR HOOKS Note: For door hooks to work, door frame needs to have a hard ridge about ½ wide, as shown. Once doors are closed, hooks should not be visible from outside.

Standard straps are 142 long (Top Strap + Inside Strap). Order additional straps and join them end-to-end to make longer straps. VANS front doors and rear side windows Note: you may need 3 sections of strap joined together, instead of the standard 2. Standard straps are 142 long (Top Strap + Inside Strap). Order additional straps and join them end-to-end to make longer straps. VANS or 2-DOOR CARS front doors and rear gate or trunk Rear gate or trunk closes over straps Note: you may need 3 sections of strap joined together, instead of the standard 2. Standard straps are 142 long (Top Strap + Inside Strap). Order additional straps and join them end-to-end to make longer straps.

ROOFBAG INSTALLATION Cars WITH or WITHOUT Rack STRAP ANGLES Best ways of strapping carrier to side rails or door frame

ROOFBAG CARRIER INSTALLATION FILLING AND CLOSING THE CARRIER 1- Place carrier on a clean roof and (preferably) on a protective mat. 2- Logo on carrier should face the back of the car. 3- Front of carrier should be at least 8 inches behind the front edge of the roof, to minimize wind noise and improve gas mileage. 4- Open zipper and fill the carrier while on top of the car. Carrier may get too heavy to lift once it s full. 5- Fill carrier as full as possible: a fuller bag provides a smoother ride. 6- Place more items toward the rear to preserve the bag s aerodynamic shape. 7- Cushion hard or sharp objects to avoid fabric damage. 8- Close zipper. Flip up the flap corners to facilitate turning the corners. 9- Zipper pullers should meet at the back. Leave no gap between the zipper pullers or rain may enter your carrier. 10- Fasten straps (see below) and adjust length by pulling the free ends. 11- Check that the zipper flap points down all around. STRAPPING THE CARRIER Choose A), B) or C) below depending on the straps you received. Straps are labeled on their packages. A) Cars WITH Roof Rack - Using Rack Straps (Each Rack Strap has 3 parts: Top Strap, Rack Short Strap, Rack Long Strap). 1- The carrier may sit over or be squeezed between the side rails or cross bars of the rack. The carrier is flexible and will adapt to the space available. 2- Slide a Top Strap under 2 strap guides located at the top of the carrier. Top Straps should go left-to-right for side rails and front-to-back for cross bars. 3- Attach the Rack Straps to the side rails or the cross bars, threading each buckle through the loop at the opposite end of the strap. 4- Mate the half buckles of the Rack Straps with the half buckles of the Top Strap until they click. 5- Repeat for the other strap. 6- If the car has both side rails and cross bars, a second pair of straps can be installed at right angles to the first pair, using the same 4 strap guides. B) Cars WITHOUT Roof Rack Using Pass-Through Straps (Each Pass-Through Strap has 2 parts: Top Strap, Inside Strap). 1- Slide a Top Strap left-to-right under the 2 front strap guides located at the top of the carrier. 2- Open the front doors of the car and run the Inside Strap across the interior. 3- Slide the half buckles of the Inside Strap into the half buckles of the Top Strap until they click. 4- Repeat for rear doors on a 4-door car. 5- On a 2-door car, use the strap angle for a 2-door car shown on the Strap Angles diagram sheet. C) Cars WITHOUT RACK Using Door Hook Straps (Each Door Hook Strap has 3 parts: Top Strap, Hook Short Strap, Hook Long Strap). 1- Slide a Top Strap left-to-right under the 2 front strap guides located at the top of the carrier. 2- Open the car s doors and attach the strap hooks onto a hard ridge or lip approximately ½ wide by ½ high, sticking down from the top of the door frame. The ridge may be covered with a plastic molding or rubber seal. (TEST: The hook should stay firmly in place when pulling upward on the strap).

3- Close the door over the strap. The strap should exit between the door and the frame, and the hook should be invisible from the outside. 4- Slide the half buckles of the Hook Straps into the half buckles of the Top Strap until they click. 5- Repeat for the rear strap. NOTE: If your car does not have the required ½ ridge, use instead the Pass-Through Straps that come standard with the carrier. TIPS FOR TROUBLE-FREE ENJOYMENT OF YOUR CARRIER STRAP GUIDES The top strap guides are designed to be used only as guides. They are not strong enough to be used to tie the straps to them or to lift the carrier from them. STRAP ANGLES Follow the Strap Angles diagram sheet for correct strap orientation. FILL THE CARRIER Use carrier full if possible to avoid fabric delamination caused by wind flapping. A full carrier also prevents water entry into the carrier through the zipper (see below). LOOSE CREASES Loose creases in the fabric flap in the wind, causing noise, lowering gas mileage and damaging the fabric (delamination). Use extra straps if necessary to hold down any loose creases. FIRM ATTACHMENT Straps should be snug but not over-tight. Check snugness of straps during travel. Don t attach the straps to anything not intended to support heavy loads like a rain gutter, roof corner, roof edge, or open hooks. STRAP NOISE If a strap whistles or rumbles, unbuckle, twist it one turn and re-buckle. Wrap the free ends and tuck the tips under the last turn, to avoid flapping. AVOIDING WATER ENTRY INTO THE CAR Over-tight straps may deform the door seal in some cars and allow rainwater into the car. Loosen straps slightly while driving through rain, or when leaving car unattended during rain. AVOIDING WATER ENTRY INTO THE ROOFBAG CARRIER 1- Logo should be at the back. 2- Close the zipper sliders until they touch. 3- Use the carrier full whenever possible. 4- If carrier is not full, make sure the zipper flap points down all around. 5- If you wash an empty carrier with a water hose, water may enter the carrier through the zipper even if the zipper is closed. CAUTION and DISCLAIMER BY PURCHASING AND USING ROOFBAG S CAR TOP CARRIER YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING: The buyer is responsible for installing the RoofBag carrier securely.
