Jax Navy Flying Club Course Rules Responsibilities. The Jax Navy Flying Club maintains responsibility for ensuring that all pilots operating out of Naval Air Station Jacksonville are familiar with local course rules, local military aircraft, radio procedures, interpretation of light signals and the effects of wake turbulence on light aircraft. In addition, pilots are responsible for obtaining a brief on local NOTAMS and other conditions affecting NAS Jacksonville airfield operations. Pilots on any flight must obtain a weather brief, check NOTAMS and file a flight plan if on a VFR X/C or IFR. Pilots may file flight plans via phone with FSS (800) WX-BRIEF or electronically. VFR flight plans shall be closed out with the appropriate agency. Pilots not filing a flight plan must comply with Chapter 2, Paragraph 10b of this manual. The Jax Navy Flying Club shall furnish the Operations Department with a current listing of Flying Club aircraft by type and FAA registration number. VFR North Arrival / Departure Procedures North Arrivals. Contact Navy Jax Tower with position and intentions and obtain specific instructions prior to entering the NAS Jacksonville Class D airspace. Enter over Winter Point at 1600 feet MSL, begin descent to 1000 MSL and proceed as directed. Report Pt. La Vista at 1000 MSL when directed for pattern spacing, then: Runway 10: Enter a left downwind or left base at 1000 MSL or as directed by the tower. Plan approach to land beyond the E-28 arresting gear located approximately 1000 FT east of the threshold. Clear the runway north on taxiway C or as directed by the tower. Runway 14: Enter a modified left base (straight-in) at 1000 MSL. Plan approach to land beyond the E-28 arresting gear located approximately 500 FT south of the displace threshold. Hold short (north) of the intersection of 14/32 and runway 10/28. When directed by the tower, make a 180 turn on the runway and back-taxi. Taxi around the E-28 gear on the infield to the immediate west, then resume back-taxi on the runway and report clear at taxiway D or C as directed by the tower. Runway 28: Enter a right downwind at 1000 MSL or as directed by the tower. Plan approach to land beyond the E-28 arresting gear located approximately 1900 FT west of the threshold. Clear the runway north on taxiway C or as directed by the tower. Runway 32: Enter a right downwind at 1000 MSL or as directed by the tower. Taxi around the E-28 gear on the infield to the immediate west, then resume back-taxi on the runway and report clear at taxiway D or C as directed by the tower. 1

After ground control responds: Ground, Piper for taxi, local VFR, time enroute, direction of departure, souls on board, fuel on board VFR Cross-Country: Same as above, except, for taxi, VFR to (destination), etc. IFR: After receiving clearance from clearance delivery on 134.775: Navy Jax ground, Piper at the flying club for taxi, IFR to (destination). North Departures: Runway 10: Taxi south on taxiway C-1/C and hold short of Runway 10/28. Contact Navy Jax Tower on 125.15. Fly runway heading to 700 MSL, then climbing left turn over Sadler Point. Report when clear of Navy Jax Class D airspace. Runway 14: Taxi north on taxiway C-1/C and hold short of Runway 14/32. Contact Navy Jax Tower on 125.15. Fly runway heading to 700 MSL, then climbing left turn over Sadler Point. Report when clear of Navy Jax Class D airspace. Runway 28: Taxi south on taxiway C-1/C and hold short of Runway 10/28. Contact Navy Jax Tower on 125.15. Request backtaxi if desired. Fly runway heading to 700 MSL, then climbing right turn over Sadler Point. Report when clear of Navy Jax Class D airspace. Runway 32: Taxi north-east on taxiway D via C-1/C and hold short of Runway 14/32. Contact Navy Jax Tower on 125.15. Request clearance to back-taxi for runway 32. Taxi around the E-28 gear on the infield to the immediate west, then resume backtaxi on the runway, make a 180 turn on the runway and hold short (north) of the intersection of 14/32 and runway 10/28. Begin the takeoff roll or line up and wait as directed by the tower. Fly runway heading to 700 MSL, then climbing right turn over Sadler Point. Report when clear of Navy Jax Class D airspace. In all cases, climb to 300 feet MSL prior to making any turns. Caution must be exercised due to 102 feet antennas located north of the intersection of runways 10/28 and 14/32 on station. 2
VFR South Arrival / Departure Procedures South Arrival. South Departure. Report over Julington Creek at 1600 MSL, begin descent to 1,000 MSL and proceed as directed. When directed by the tower, turn southbound and climb to 1,200 MSL. Report clear of Navy Jax Class D airspace. IFR Departure / Arrival Procedures Departure: Contact Navy Jax Clearance Delivery on 134.775. Contact Navy Jax Ground on 128.6 and proceed as directed. Expect IFR departures from Runway 10 or 28. Arrival: Request visual, RNAV or PAR approach from Jax approach control and proceed as directed. Flight Plans. Local Flights: Ground control is completing a mini-flight plan with the information given when calling for taxi. Contact Navy Jax tower to update flight time enroute if you will be > 30 minutes later than ETA. IFR and Cross-country Flights: Flight Plans shall be filed with FSS (800) WX- BRIEF or electronically for all flights departing or arriving NAS Jacksonville. Be sure to specify "Navy Jax/KNIP" to avoid confusion and inadvertent filing to Jacksonville International/KJAX. Flight plans are automatically closed for IFR flights arriving at NAS Jacksonville. Opening and closing VFR flight plans are the PIC s responsibility. Lost Communications Procedures Prior to Entering Class D Airspace: Land at Herlong (KHEG) or other suitable airport and obtain repairs as required. No Radio contact Prior to Clearance into the traffic Pattern: Proceed inbound and fly over intended runway, rock wings (flash lights at night). Transmit in the blind. Watch for ATC Light Signals and proceed as directed. No Radio contact prior to Landing: Transmit in the blind. Watch for ATC Light signals and proceed as directed. 3
