Ohio Department of Transportation Construction Update DISTRICT 5 DAVE RAY, P.E., P.S., DISTRICT DEPUTY DIRECTOR 9600 Jacksontown Road Jacksontown, OH 43030 www.transportation.ohio.gov/dist5 ODOT District 5 Weekly Traffic Advisory For the week of September 7, 2014 The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 5, which includes the counties of Coshocton, Fairfield, Guernsey, Knox, Licking, Muskingum, and Perry. All work is weather permitting. For statewide information regarding road conditions affected by construction, maintenance, weather or accidents, visit www.ohgo.com. COSHOCTON COUNTY September 8 *New The Lake Park Pedestrian Bridge: Will close for repair. Crews will work between Roscoe Village and Lake Park on the pedestrian foot bridge. Pedestrian and bike traffic will be detoured to White Woman street, Chestnut Street, 2 nd Street, and to Bridge Street. The estimated completion date is June 30, 2015. Twp. Rd. 90: The road closed September 2 nd and will remain closed for 45 days for the replacement of the existing bridge structure. This closure will occur just east of Twp. Rd. 205. It is expected to reopen October 13 th. SR 206: The road will be closed between US 36 and SR 206 in Walhonding while crews perform tree canopy maintenance. Work will take place 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Crews started the second phase of work. Closure will begin at the intersection of US 36 and SR 715, cover 4.95 miles along SR 715. Detour; US 36 west to SR206 north. SR 60: Crews will continue to perform a bridge replacement in Metham, between CR 24 and CR 49. The road closed July 21 and will remain closed until approximately Oct. 15, weather permitting. The project is scheduled to complete by Nov. 15. Detour: Northbound traffic should follow SR 36 west to SR 206 north to US 62 east, and reverse for southbound. SR 206: Single-lane restrictions will continue between SR 541 and US 62 for resurfacing work. Crews will close one lane and traffic will be maintained with flaggers. The work will take place 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and is scheduled to be complete by Oct. 1, weather permitting. FAIRFIELD COUNTY SR 37, SR 158 and US 22: Work will continue on a multi-route resurfacing project within the City of Lancaster. Minor final touches are being made. The project s estimated completion is fall 2014. I-70: MP Dory crews will be working on repairing tower lights and box truss on I-70 in Fairfield and Licking Counties.

GUERNSEY COUNTY SR 209: The southbound lanes will close while Shelly and Sands Inc. work to improve lighting and signals, perform sidewalk construction, and asphalt resurfacing for the City of Cambridge. Detour: For SR209 southbound traffic traveling east on US22/40: US40 IR77 IR70 SR209. For traffic traveling west on US22/40 desiring to turn on SR209 SB: US40 SR723 IR70 SR209 SR 265: The road remains closed between Frankfort Rd. and Polasky Rd. as crews work to replace a culvert. The road will reopen Thursday, September 11 th. Detour: Traffic will be detoured onto SR 285 north to I-70 east to SR 513 south and back to SR 265. SR 146: Will remain closed for the replacement of two small bridges with precast concrete box culverts. The first location is between Elm St. and Mare St. in the Village of Cumberland and the second location is approximately 1 mile further northeast, just beyond CR 19. The second location re-opened on August 22 and the location in Cumberland closed on August 23. It is anticipated that this location will reopen on September 10 th. I-70 and SR 265: Resurfacing work continues. Night work on I-70 is complete. Limited day time lane closures will occur for remaining work. Update: SR 265 paving, which began August 25, continues. SR 513 and SR 761: Resurfacing work continues on both routes and lane closures may be needed for short periods of time, with traffic maintained by flaggers. Storm sewer installation work in the Village of Quaker City is complete. US 22: Guardrail upgrades continue from I-77 to Harrison County. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers as needed. I-70: Crews continue to work on lining of two large culverts. One is under IR 70, just west of Arrowhead Road and the other is beneath Arrowhead Road just north of and parallel to IR 70, within the existing right-ofway. There should be little to no impact on traffic, except occasional flagging on Arrowhead Road. Scheduled completion is October 15th. KNOX COUNTY SR 541: Beginning Monday, September 8 th the road will close for multiple culvert replacements. The first closure will occur just east of Martinsburg, east of Earlywine Rd. Crews will work from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The road will reopen Friday, September 12 th at 5:00 p.m. Traffic will be detoured via SR 586 South to State Route 79 North. The second will be a lane closure east of Martinsburg; east of Kerr Rd. Crews will work from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The road will reopen Friday, September 18 th at 5:00 p.m. During this time, one lane of traffic will be maintained at all times with a temporary signal. Pavement Resurfacing: Will continue on SR 13 from the end of the four-lane section south of Zolman Rd. to Richland County line, on SR 95 from SR 95/ Salem Rd intersection to Richland County line, and SR 546 from SR 546/SR 13 intersection to the Richland County line. One lane of traffic will remain open and maintained with flaggers. Work will take place 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Estimated completion is Sept. 30. Resurfacing will continue on US 62 between the Licking County line and the Holmes County line. One lane of traffic will remain open and maintained with flaggers. Work will take place 7:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. Estimated completion is Oct. 15. LICKING COUNTY September 8 *New I-70: The on-ramp from 79 south to I-70 westbound will be closed, and I-70W will be restricted to one lane

for one mile west of SR 79. Work will begin at 7:00 p.m. evening for pavement repair. The ramp and restricted lane will reopen the following morning at 6:00 a.m., weather permitting. Ramp traffic will be detoured onto US 40W, to SR 37E, to I-70W. SR 161: Crews will be crack sealing the route between Beach Rd and State Route 310 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. Work will begin in the eastbound lanes. The project is expected to be complete Friday, September 5 th. Update: This project was finished September 5 th, 2014. TJ Evans Trail: Work will continue on constructing a new bikeway bridge in the Village of Granville. The bridge will connect TJ Evans Trail to Raccoon Valley Park. The estimated completion date for the project is May 31, 2015. Licking Trail Road: Will be closed over I-70 until mid-fall while crews repair the bridge. Two lanes traffic on I-70 will be maintained during the daytime. Detour: Christland Hill Rd to Lancer Rd to US 40 and reverse. Refugee/York Road Intersection: Work will continue on a bridge replacement and improvement project, without affecting traffic. The contractor will be placing embankment and will start driving piles for the new structure. Road closures will occur in the spring of 2015. Estimated completion of the project is fall of 2015. CR 539 (Broadway/Granville-Newark Rd.): Resurfacing continues on West Broadway today. Crews should complete work west of SR 661 and move to East Broadway tomorrow (east of SR 661). Beginning tomorrow paving will start at SR 661 and move eastward toward Newark Granville Road. Saturday crews will continue at Granger Road and move eastward toward Granville Corp. limit. Work will continue in this area until surface is completed at the beginning of next week. Temporary closures will then occur through next week and the following for pavement markings and manhole/water valve adjustments. All this work will include daily lane closures and some in-village detours. The targeted completion date is Oct. 31. SR 37: Crews are working to resurface the route between the Delaware County line and I-70. The contractor performing paving between Alexandria and SR 161 and will start paving between Granville and IR 70. One lane of traffic maintained on the structure west of Johnstown to perform concrete repair at the bridge, this bridge work will be completed by September 10, 2014.During the project, one lane will be closed and traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Interstate 70: A bridge replacement project continues about two miles west of SR 79. All traffic lanes are in the permanent pattern and all open to traffic. Minor items of work will be performed and minimum lane restrictions will take place. SR 16: Crews are currently working on placing surface course asphalt. There will be nightly lane closures between SR 146 and Dayton Rd. The target completion date for this project is October 15, 2014 CR 315(Stadden Bridge Road): A bridge replacement project between Claylick road and Colling road. Crews working on removing the existing structure. The road is expected to reopen at the end of October weather permitting. Traffic detoured to CR 283, CR 668, SR 16 and East Main St. MUSKINGUM COUNTY SR 208: The road remains closed in both directions as bridge replacement work continues approximately ¾ mile north of Adamsville. The road is expected to reopen in early September, weather permitting. Detour: Southbound traffic should follow 208 westward toward Dresden, to SR 60 north, to SR 16 east to SR 83 south to SR 93 back to SR 60, and reverse for northbound. SR 60: Just over a mile south of Duncan Falls, crews have removed rock and will complete the instillation of steel mesh slope protection and a cellular retaining wall to ensure the safety of drivers and prevent potential

rock falls from entering into the roadway. The road will remain closed until mid-september, weather permitting. Detour: Northbound traffic via SR 60 to SR 78 in McConnelsville, to SR 284 in Bristol, to SR 146 in Chandlersville, back to SR 60 in Zanesville, and reverse for southbound. NOTE: SR 60 was reopened from August 30-September 7, however it is necessary to close the road again on September 8 to complete the remaining work. Interstate 70: Work to complete median cross-overs and westbound pavement widening from SR 93 to the Airport Road Interchange is nearing conclusion. The work to drill into and fill underground mine voids, located within the interstate right-of-way, and has also begun. All lanes are shifted away from the median while this first phase is being completed. Currently, mine grouting operations are proceeding, beneath the median, with equipment stationed in the eastbound passing lane and adjacent shoulder area. SR 666: Remains closed for a bridge replacement near Bateman Rd, about three miles north of Zanesville. Detour: Northbound traffic should follow SR 60 north out of Zanesville to SR 208 in Dresden to SR 666, and reverse for southbound. Project is expected to be complete by October 1st. Update: The road opened September 5 th, almost a month ahead of schedule. SR 83: Crews continue to work on a bridge repair at the US 40 and US 22 Intersection in New Concord. The bridge is in Phase 2 of construction. Paining of the structural steel begins this week. Estimated completion is fall of 2014. Detour: Southbound traffic via US 22 west to I-70 east, back to SR 83. Alternatively, drivers can follow US 22 east to SR 723 south, to I-70 west. Reverse routes will apply to northbound traffic. PERRY COUNTY September 10 *New SR 13/37/93: The roads will be closed approximately 2.5 miles west of SR13/37/93 junction. Crews will begin working on a culvert replacement project. Work is expected to be complete on September 20th weather permitting. Detour: For westbound traffic, take 93 north, left at SR 669, left at SR 345, return to 13/37 in New Lexington. Reverse for eastbound traffic. Starting 9/3 through 9/19 Crews will be doing spot paving repairs on various routes. Motorist should expect delays. DISTRICT WIDE Bridge rehabilitation, including concrete patching, concrete deck sealing, and bearing repairs have been performed on 14 of the 16 planned structures, at various locations in Coshocton, Guernsey, Knox, and Licking Counties. The 2 remaining structures are in Muskingum County. Drivers can expect to see crews throughout the entire district marking pavement. The workers will work either as a moving operation or close one lane of a four way highway as needed. Work will start in Muskingum county and continue until May 2015 as part of a safety project to improve visibility of pavement markers to drivers. Various bridge repairs will continue this summer throughout Fairfield and Licking County. Workers are currently resurfacing bridges and any lane closures will take place at night. Guardrail repair will be taking place this summer and into April 2015. Crews may close lanes and use flaggers to maintain traffic for short periods of time as needed. Various traffic signal upgrades are being performed throughout the district. Workers are installing new poles, cables, signal heads and up-to-date controller equipment.

Spot paving on various routes in various county Contractor currently performing full depth repair on SR 204 in Fairfield county and SR 715 in Coshocton county. One lane of traffic will remain open and maintained with flaggers. Anticipated completion date is November 30, 2014.
