The Quilceda Carvers is a Non-Profit organization dedicated to promoting woodcarving and the shaping or reshaping of nature s products. Meetings, which are open to the public, are held the 4th Saturday of each Month at: Jennings Park, 6915 Armar Rd, Marysville, WA 98270 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM The club has a Post office Box: Quilceda Carvers PO Box 1027, Marysville, WA. Meeting will go from 9 am to 2pm October 28, 2017 Open carving --- bring your tools and something to carve. We will be at the Red Barn area The Prez Sez Hello Carvers. It has been a busy month. This is the last three months of the year and a busy time. Thanks to Marcus Pederson for helping Jim Gillespie on the nominating committee. I had the opportunity to carve at Jim Thomas s carving on Wednesday night. He would like more to come and carve. In November there may be a pie auction. Get those recipes out to bake a pie. Quilceda Carvers Club Meeting September 23, 2017 Don led the meeting and Randy Garka led the pledge of allegiance. No Visitors or anniversaries. Birthdays: RJ on 7 th ; Cherie -8 th ; Barb -13 th ; Rich 16 th ; Larry 5 th. Minutes of Aug. 25 th were approved as printed in the newsletter. Larry presented treasurer reports for July and August. $9,162.80 total: $6,864.46 in checking and $2,298.34 in savings. Spit and Whittle : Expenses $1,023.63 Income: $75.85 Gill made a presentation to our president, Don Miller of a special knife in appreciation for and recognition of his work as the president of the club. He would like to do this for each president in the future. Future dates: Board meeting changed to Oct 5 th, 6:30 pm at Haggens in Lake Stevens. Club meeting will be Nov. 18 th (instead of the fourth Saturday, Nov. 25 th ) December meeting will be Dec. 16 th (instead of the fourth Saturday Dec. 23 rd.) Don will verify the club meeting dates with Jennings Park. Don thanks all who volunteered their time and participation at the Fair carving booth. The Fair gave the club a plaque for 25 years for attendance and participation at the fair. Ted Rumsey is recuperating from becoming dehydrated at the fair. Next date for carving at Cabella s will be Nov. 11 th and a sign up sheet will be available at the October meeting. Jimmy reported that the demonstrations went well at Fresh Paint in August. Two people that were interested in carving came to the August club meeting but did not join. One (Nicholas Smith) attended the newly formed carving group at Jim Thomas home on Wednesdays. Don asked for volunteers to be on a nominating committee for next years officers. Jimmy volunteered to serve on the committee.

The November meeting is our Pie Auction --- now that is a good time. Our Christmas Party is just around the corner start carving an ornament to put on our tree --- it will be the Ornament Exchange.
