As a child, I did not appreciate the weather there but, it sure felt good this time. Thanks to Jim Patterson for chairing the last meeting and to Lee and Candy for hosting again at their home. This month we are planning two events. The first will be on the 8th at the fairgrounds and the other will be on the 17th at the Valley Prairie Hall. More information at the meeting and in this issue. Remember you can go on line as well to the Spokane Model T web site for details about these events and other information. See you at the meeting. Hutch - 2 -

Minutes from the Last Club Meeting August 4, 2017 Vice President Jim Patterson called the meeting to order at 7:23 PM. This was our annual August picnic at the home of Lee and Candy Burgess. Thanks to Lee and Candy for hosting this event! Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Betty Patterson presented the report. Finances look good. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to approve the report. A motion was also approved to pay Lee and Candy Burgess $50 to cover picnic expenses. Secretary s Report: A motion was made to approve the minutes from the June meeting as printed in the Fender Chatter. The motion was seconded and passed. Sunshine Report: Susie Carnegie sent out two cards, including a sympathy card sent to Mike and Jackie Stormo for the loss of Jackie s mother. She also sent a thank you card to Matt and Maggie Hansen for the great job that they did in hosting the July 29 Green Bluff Model T tour. Tours Report: Nan Robison gave a brief report on the Montana 500 in June. Matt Hansen reported on the Green Bluff Tour. It was great fun, with a large turnout of 34 Model Ts and 8 Model As. The places that we visited were very pleased and reported increased business. We may repeat the tour next year. The 200-mile annual speedster tour has been cancelled. Our club turned down hosting the tour and no other club was interested in doing it. The club spent $51.85 to cover the costs of the swap meet. (This expense was approved at a previous meeting.) Future tour events include the 34th Annual Ford Show at Dwight Merkel Park (near the Veterans Hospital and Albi Stadium in northwest Spokane) from 9-4 on Saturday, August 26. The cost is $15 per car, with check in from 7:30-9:00 AM. Hundreds of cars are expected and there will be many awards. Other events include a parade in Ritzville on September 2 and a September 17 model train tour near Colbert. We are also invited to show our cars on Friday, September 8 for the opening day of the Spokane Interstate Fair. The fair is hoping to get 20 cars, and will give the owner of each car four free tickets. New Business: Betty Patterson passed out copies of the Charitable Contribution Committee Guidelines, which are part of the club bylaws. The guidelines require that all suggestions for possible contributions be presented at the September meeting. The committee (Betty Patterson, Nan Robison, and Erik Hutchinson) will then meet to consider the suggestions and report at the November meeting on which suggestions they think that we should fund. The bylaws allow the club to spend a maximum of 10% of the total club checking and savings bank balance on January 1 that exceeds $4,000. This year we can spend a maximum of $279.57 ($6,795.72 - $4,000 = $2,795.72 x 10% = $279.57.) Please consider possible contributions and bring your suggestions to the September meeting. Jim Patterson also discussed a man from Renton who bought a Model T in Liberty Lake and would like help in getting it started and loading it on a trailer so that he can transport it to his home. We hope to do this at a future Tuesday night work session at Antique Auto Ranch. The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 PM. The meeting was followed by a slideshow of some 500 photos that were taken at the Green Bluff tour Larry Mann, Secretary August 2017 Picnic Meeting Monthly Meetings The monthly meeting begins at 7:30 PM on the 1st Friday of each month at the Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 North Pines, Spokane Valley, WA. The next regular club meeting is September 1. You are welcome to join other T Club members for pre-meeting dinner 5:30-6:00 PM at Conley s Restaurant next to the White Elephant just east of Pines at 12622 E. Sprague in the Valley. We Hope to see you there! - 3 -

The Spokane Model T Club will be participating in the opening ceremonies at the Spokane Interstate Fair on opening day, Friday. Sept. 8th from 10:00 AM through 8:00 PM. We are trying to get at least 20 Spokane T Club Model T's (or more) whose owners will dress up in their best Model T-era clothing (optional, but recommended). We are hoping to show the diversity of the Model T thru different body styles and year chanegs (brass - nickel), etc. We will have abundant media coverage on opening day along with lots of educational Model T brochures and leaflets to hand out to educate the fair go-ers on Model T history. The fair will have us in a roped off area at the main entrance to the fairgrounds. We may be asked to take city and county officials and dignitaries on a riding tour of the fairgrounds. Each car owner will get a poster board placard for use in identifying their Model T which will indicate the owner's name, type and year of car, and other significant milestones about that year's Model T production. If you are interested in being a part of this fun-filled event, call or email Jim Patterson. Deadline for registration is Monday, August 28th. If you participate in the opening day activities, you will be given 4 admission tickets for entrance on any day of the fair.
