P a ge 2 V olume 73 I s s u e 9 The nights are starting to cool, and that means just one thing: Winter isn t far off. In August we had our trip sign-up night and we have many trips to offer for Winter 2018-2019. Our big Western trip will be to Taos, New Mexico (January 19-26), and for this trip we are partnering with Nomads Ski Club. Thus far, we have sold out all or nearly all, of our spots. However, the Nomads are offering The Presidents Message-Sept. 2018 us some of their unsold spots. If you have any interest in this trip, you must decide soon, as we will be cutting back any unsold places. Next most important is the CMSC Chicago Week trip to Aspen (February 23 to March 2). There are currently a few places left for this trip, but since this is a very popular destination, there is not much time left to signup. Last, but not least, is the CMSC Spring Fling to Breckenridge (April 6-11). Our weekend trips start with Brule (December 7-9) which is with the Nomads Our big weekend trip this year will be to Crystal (January 11-13). There will be one more weekend trip to either Caberfae or Big Snow (Upper Peninsula) in early March. Final decisions will be made in time for our September meeting. Coming up in September are the CMSC White Sox Tail-Gate Party and game on September 8, the Chili Cook-Off on September 30, and of course, Bike, Hike & Blade on Wednesday. nights at 5:30 pm See more information on these of The Inside Edge. A lot of work has gone into planning these Western and Midwestern ski trips. Support our club! Sign up for as many trips as you can. P a ge 3 V olume 73 I s s u e 9 The weather was great for the eleven GSC members who participated in an evening of friendships as we traveled to three local breweries on Thursday, August 16. After leaving the Sportsman s Club, the first stop was Wild Rose Brewery in Griffith where the people were very friendly while we sampled several of their brews individually or tasting several at one time in a flight. Next we ventured across the state line to stop at Flossmoor Station which was once a railroad station and where we had some delicious food. There we were each given a full glass of their signature beer to sample. Last on our route across from the hospital in Dyer was Windmill April, Janice, Lynne, Celeste, Arlene, Ed, Wayne, Cindy, Brewing which is dedicated to creating some of the finest ales Bill, Ann Marie and JoAnn around. Besides sampling a few of the brews, we got involved in playing a life size Jenga game which was a good way to top off the evening of fun and enjoyment with friends. It was great educational brewery experience. Thanks to our friendly and great driver, Raquel, for providing a great evening for us. Hopefully we can get more interested for another trip next year.
