GLEN HELEN HIKES AND LECTURES listed here are free for members and Antioch College students, and a $2 donation or fee-based for others as listed. Late Spring Bird Walk Join director Nick Boutis to identify late spring nesting birds. Grinnell Mill, 8am. Reptile Feeding Drop in to meet our corn snake, black rat snake, and watch Amos, our box turtle, devour a plate of food. Trailside Museum, 11am 12pm. Summer Volunteer Orientation Get involved behind the scenes at Glen Helen and become part of the amazing community of volunteers that power our programs, events, and operations. Glen Auditorium, 11am. 1Sa Glen Land Stewards Turn your stroll into service when you drop in to see the Glen ranger for a trail assignment. Check for trash, watch for graffiti, and show visitors that there are eyes and ears on Glen Helen trails. We ll provide a vest. Trailside Museum, 1pm. 4Throughout the year 4Tu Antioch Farm Volunteer Session Learn sustainable practices while working in the annual garden, food forest, and hoop house to grow a healthy crop for the Antioch Kitchens. All ages & experience levels welcome. Inclement weather cancels, questions to Kat at 937-477-8654. Meet just west of the Amphitheater. 5 7pm. 4Throughout the year 8Sa John Bryan to Jacoby Little Miami River Clean-up Volunteers from Glen Helen and Tecumseh Land Trust will join the Little Miami River Keepers for a one day clean-up of Ohio s scenic gem. Our task is to secure John Bryan to Jacoby, via boat or on foot. Contact bbryan@glenhelen.org for details. 8:30am 12noon. Yellow Springs Street Fair Glen Helen staff man exhibits and youth activities as more than 200 vendor booths take over the streets of Yellow Springs. Find us near the Emporium and learn about membership, adoptions, and volunteer opportunities while getting a tulip leaf tattoo or cookie. Downtown Yellow Springs, 9am 5pm. Stargazing Aided by telescope, join Pat Craig, Outreach Astronomer, for an evening of stars, planets, and stories. Weather dependent. West of Antioch Amphitheatre, 9pm. Join author Carol Colbertson as she charts the coyote s history and the real and imagined dangers they pose. Glen Auditorium, 4pm. 24Mo Full Moon Hike Join the Glen Helen Ranger for a moonlight excursion. Moderately intense hike departs from parking lot at Route 343, 9pm. 25Tu Antioch Farm Volunteer Session 27Th Owl Program and Release Five species of Ohio owls will be presented in this program for our Ecocampers and the public. Then young screech-owls will be released to the wild. Join us across from the Horace Mann Meadow on Bryan Park Road near John Bryan State Park; bring a blanket or lawn chair. Outdoor Education Center, 4 5pm. 27Tu Antioch Farm Volunteer Session 31Sa Advanced Wilderness Survival and Adventure First Aid Outdoor immersion in patient scenarios, with in-depth coverage of stabilizing sprains, strains, and splints; rope techniques for first aid, and care flight evacuation procedures. Participants receive a field kit including basic first aid gear needed for emergency treatment and stabilization, and must have taken previous course at Glen Helen, or be CPR certified to attend.
