If you leave a message make sure I have your cell # for last minute updates due to weather, etc. CLEAR CREEK METRO PARK 185 Clear Creek Road Rockbridge, OH 43149 (northern Hocking & southern Fairfield counties) DIRECTIONS: From I-270, take U.S. 33 east toward Lancaster. Go south past Carroll and stay on the bypass. Pass the stop light at Sugar Grove and go about one mile to Clear Creek Road (County Route 116). Turn right on Clear Creek Road (Sunoco Gas Station on the corner). Picnic areas, facilities and trails are located along Clear Creek Road for the next seven miles. Clear Creek Valley is one of the most pristine and secluded natural areas in Central Ohio. Variations of land surfaces, soils and climates have produced a medley of habitats that harbor more than 800 plant species and 150 species of birds, many of them rare. Centuries of glacial flooding have cut the valley through the Black Hand sandstone leaving an array of scenic cliffs and rugged rock formations overlooking the creek. Oak and hickory forests interspersed with giant hemlocks and ferns, along with the last remaining Ohio colonies of rhododendron, provide the perfect backdrop or a getaway from city life. A chill runs up your back as you realize Something is very odd with this house. The disembodied souls of the thousands of victims of Tuberculosis who died across the street at the Sanitarium make their presence known on these grounds. You pass through the grim gateway of the cemetery; shock grips you as you witness the macabre mist that hovers over the graves All are invited to our Annual Halloween Party & are encouraged to come in costume, but are "welcomed" in normal attire nonetheless. Bring a covered dish or dessert to share, and an adult beverage of your choice. Some beverages will be provided, as well as Matt's latest beer on offer. The campfire will roar encircled by the infamous straw bale 'couches' of yore. Bring your own camp chair if you dare. The Next Friday Happy Hour! For our next Friday Happy Hour, we will be switching it to a Saturday and going to an all-day festival! Tom Erndt had the great suggestion of going up to the 3rd Annual Sunbury Sizzle & Sounds Food & Music Festival on Saturday, August 24th. This festival runs from 11am to 11pm, so feel free to come up at any time during the day. There will be beer gardens, vendors, music, and other entertainment throughout Sunbury and Galena. Plus, a free trolley between the two cities, and McGuffey Lane plays at 3p in Sunbury. We are going to meet up at the main Sunbury beer garden around 6pm to eat and drink and talk and hang out all together for a bit. So, why not try out this new local festival and then slide into a fun evening with your NSC friends drinking and being entertained by whatever is going on? Wear a NSC shirt so we can all find each other!!! Y all are the August Thirteen. Here to take all of the cake Before we can even get some! Well, Happy Birthday to you all!! Due to the fact that during the August General meeting I will be eating Kansas City BBQ with family in Kansas City, the emoticon contest will again be postponed this month. The next chance to win the Gift Card will be at the September Membership Renewal Meeting on Sept. 3rd. To keep you sharp in noticing what & where an emoticon is, I am going to list a few emoticons and what emotion they are supposed to portray: ;-) = Winking :-P = Tongue sticking out :-* = Kissing :-X = Lips are sealed :-/ = Smirking :-I = Poker face :-( = Sad =-O = Surprised : ( = Crying :-D = Laughing <3 = Heart/Kissing :-) = Smiling So, there you have just a few of the multitude of emoticons now flying throughout the email & text universe. With a world that relies on reading & writing more so than at any other time in history (ironic, since just 25 years ago we were all so worried because Johnny couldn t read & would never have to), portraying the tone and emotion of a statement has become highly necessary. Who knew, right?!?
