The growth in the agricultural sector was still the most dominant compared to the other sectors, in which has reached 47%. This is very reasonable because Blitar Regency has a strong agricultural base and is supported by the adequate geographical conditions of the area. INFRASTRUCTURE Transportation Land transportation infrastructure supported by the network of national, provincial and regency levels that connects to the eastern part of East Java Province. Telecommunication Blitar Regency is supported by adequate telecommunication facilities, all of the national cellular operator provide many relay tower in the regency. Energy The Regency provides an adequate availability of electricity, especially in the tourism area such as Penataran Temple tourism zone. P a g e 3 10

TOURISM FACTS ATTRACTION Blitar Regency has many tourist attractions that was based on the nature and the culture of the area, but one of the most famous tourist attraction is the mausoleum and museum of the Proclaimer of Independence and the first president of Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Soekarno. Larung Seraji Traditional Ceremony ACCESSIBILITIES Blitar Regency is tend to be accessible by land transportation only, since there are no sea and air transportation facilities in the regency. The tourists could access the regency through the nearest airports that is located in the neighbouring area. The nearest airports are in Malang Regency (Domestic) and Surabaya City (International). REGIONAL TOURISM POLICY TOURISM POSITION ON REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Blitar Regency is one of the national priority in terms of tourism development. The Ministry of Tourism have appointed many destinations in East Java Province as the National Tourism Development Zone and the National Tourism Destination, Blitar Regency was included as one of the National Tourism Development Zone. Tourism has become one of the main priority sector for development by the local government. The government and the community have fully aware of the Blitar Regency tourism resources and it s potential for economic contribution through tourism development. They are welcoming every investors that are willing to cooperate not only on developing more tourism attraction and facilities but also to develop in all of tourism aspects of Blitar Regency. REGIONAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVE The tourism development at the Blitar Regency must be implemented in compliance with the following principles: 1. Community based tourism Maintain the involvement of the local community and the stakeholders on every tourism development activities 2. Sustainable tourism Continuous improvement and preservation of the environmental, cultural and community aspects of tourism development 3. Cultural preservation Implement and integrate the local culture elements on all of the tourism development activities 4.
