Page 3 Travis Says, SURFSIDE DEPUTY REPORT DEPUTY T. OSTGAARD AUGUST 30 th SEPTEMBER 5 th, 2018 On 08/30 I was dispatched to a residential alarm in the 31000 block of N Pl. While enroute, I was advised there was a valid cancel on the alarm. On 09/01 I was contacted about a suspicious female on 338 th Pl. The reporting party stated that a female had knocked on his neighbor s door and begged for money. The female then walked in to the neighbor s garage and looked around and then left. The reporting party stated that the homeowner had not called to report it and he just wanted me to beware. I checked the area for the female, but I did not locate her. On 09/02 at 6 a.m. an elderly female called 911 to report that she had been stabbed in the throat by her husband. The female was transported to the hospital and the male was arrested for attempted murder. He is being held in jail on 2 million dollars bail. The timing and length of migration varies species to species. Some birds migrate on their own, others migrate in loose or tight flocks. Regardless of timing or strategy, we can help birds migrating through our yards. Keep your feeders stocked~ A ready source of food allows birds to get their fill, minimize energy spent foraging. Offer a source of fresh water ( the noisier the better) ~ Early in migration natural water sources are at their lowest level. Having fresh water to drink and bathe in is essential for the trip ahead. Reduce us of lights between 11pm and dawn from August 25 November 15~ Many birds migrate at night and bright city lights make it difficult for birds to find their way in and out of urban areas.
