These labs are the home of scientific research and engineering in the fields of electromagnetics, materials reliability, earth systems, weather, communications and much more. There is much information about each lab at their website. We will meet at the southwest corner of Basemar Shopping Center (Broadway and Baseline Rd.) by 9:30 a.m. and carpool to NIST (National Institute of Standards Technology) for a 10 a.m. tour which will end about 11:15. There will be plenty of time for lunch back at the shopping center (a number of restaurants from which to choose). At 12:40 we will head back to the labs location for our tour of NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) for a tour of that facility, lasting until about 2:30. FSC Friday Afternoon Club (FAC) New Participants Welcome FSC Friday FAC meets from 4 pm until 5:30 at Rincon del Sol, 2350 Arapahoe. It is on the South Side of Arapahoe, just west of gas station at SW corner Folsom & Arapahoe, and good parking is on the West side. Has good Happy Hour prices and food. FSC meets in the large west-side room.

Herm Thursday Hikers The Thursday Hikers will continue to hike throughout the winter. Of course, some days will be missed due to bad weather or holidays. Most hikes will be close to town but there will be excursions into the higher mountains too. Call Connie Macinko for more information. We meet at the southeast corner of the Meadows Shopping Center close to the frontage road. Be sure to come prepared for the weather with adequate clothing, extra food, etc. Meeting Time is 9:00 AM. Snowy Range Ski Trip March 9-11, 2016 Add a new ski area to those you have skied. Join FSC members going to the Snowy Range Ski Area west of Laramie, Wyoming. It is closer to Boulder than Aspen (154 miles vs 170 miles) and about 3 hours with almost no mountain driving. There are 5 lifts and 27 ski runs (longest 1 mile). The price is great too. Trip cost for 2 nights in 2 bed rooms at the Old Coral Lodge in Centennial, WY is just $85. Senior lift tickets (70+) are $0. Adult lift tickets are $45. The name of the trip needs to be written in the notation line on the check - for example "2016 Winter Crested Butte. If someone is paying for another member who is not at the meeting (we have had this happen), that person who is being paid for needs to be identified in the notation line of the check as well. General Trip Policies Though the club doesn t expect to make money on trips, it does expect each trip to cover its costs. With that in mind, please be aware of the following policies: The $25 deposit guarantees your spot on the trip. If you cannot go, do not expect to have your deposit refunded. Notify the leader promptly if you have to cancel, even if you have only paid the deposit and full payment isn t yet due. If something prevents you from going, do not expect a refund. If a replacement can be found, then that person can reimburse you. Avalanche Ranch in 2016 2016 Avalanche Ranch Is Early This Year We Are Going To Have a Bodacious Time At The Apple Festival Our reservations are for Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9/30 10/2 The cost is $195.00. A $50.00 deposit is required. Take Care! Your deposit will only be refunded when a substitute can be found or things work out and there is money left over when all is said and done. Organizing things can be difficult but as always we will do our best to mix and match couples and sexes but no guarantees. We have reserved the Ranch house and the both the two bedroom cabins!! Room for 17. If there is more interest, we will reserve more cabins. I expect we could manage up to 35 participants. There will be a sign up sheet at the ruary meeting. If you cannot make it the meeting have someone sign up and make the deposit for you. If you are on the Leadville trip, I will accept deposits there Your place is not reserved until we receive a deposit.
FSC Mid-Week Ski Schedule for January Join us for a day of pleasurable skiing without crowds and lift lines. We will meet at Marshall Road in Boulder at 7:30 am. Please call the trip leader the evening before if you are planning on going so they can arrange cars and drivers. (cash preferred) Canyonlands - May 3rd to 6th The Flatirons Ski Club reserves 2 houses in Moab,UT every year for hikes and car touring in the Canyonlands Area. This year the dates are Tuesday, May 3 to Friday, May 6. The cost for a bed for the 3 nights is $70 per person. Sign ups and a $25 deposits will initiate at the ruary Flatirons meeting. The trip usually fills up and has a Waiting List every year. FSC just had another terrific time in Steamboat. The potluck dinner was delicious and snow excellent for skiing. Our group was very congenial and are looking forward to next year s trip.
