Oct. 24 30 2016 A Journey of Faith, Art, Music, History and Enchantment Spiritual Leader and Host Fr. Robert Hutmacher OFM Santa Fe.. Albuquerque Chimayo.. Taos Pueblo San Francisco de Assis Mission Abiqui, Ghost Ranch San Miguel Church Georgia O Keefe Museum And More Santa Fe was founded in 1607, it is the oldest and highest capital city in the US. With its stunning

Land of Enchantment mountains, high desert climate and perpetual blue skies, has long captivated the imaginations of explorers, pilgrims and travelers from around the world. Santa Fe has three distinct cultures Native American, Spanish and Anglo and the experience is unparalleled. However, there s a fourth culture that many overlook: The rich Catholic and Franciscan heritage of Northern New Mexico. Santa Fe has Catholic roots that are older than Jamestown or Plymouth Rock. Its Spanish Missions are 170 years older than the missions of California. This program was designed for you to experience a truly unique Catholic pilgrimage that is blessed Spanish Catholic traditions, Native American traditions, pueblo architecture, art galleries, stories of the supernatural, and some of the most breathtaking scenic views this side of heaven. DAY 1 Monday, October 24, 2016, Chicago - Albuquerque Fly to Albuquerque. Bienvenidos, welcome to the Land of Enchantment. Upon arrival you will board your motor coach to travel the 67 miles to your hotel in Santa Fe. On arrival in Santa Fe you will be given an overview of Santa Fe and your guide will take you on a Walking Tour through the Historic Plaza and its surrounding streets. After checking in at your hotel, you will be treated to a Welcome Reception and Dinner and will hear a talk on the history of the Catholic Church in the SW, with emphasis on the tremendous contribution by the Franciscans. MEALS INCLUDED: D DAY 2 Tuesday, October 25 SANTA FE After breakfast, your guide will take you to visit the missions and other historic sites which are within walking distance of your hotel and which will include: Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi where you will learn the history of the Cathedral and of La Conquistadora, the oldest statue of Our Lady in the United States. Loretto Chapel and the Mysterious Staircase, where an anonymous carpenter built a staircase using neither nails nor any other visible means of support. Engineers have determined this to be structurally impossible; many believe that St. Joseph built the staircase in answer to a novena prayed by the nuns seeking a solution to the problem of accessing the choir loft in their long habits. San Miguel Mission the oldest church in the United States, and the nearby Oldest House a 2-room structure which dates back to the 1300 s. For those of you who wish to continue on a 1.8 mile walk (round trip) you will continue to the Cross of Martyrs which commemorates the 21 Franciscan friars who were martyred during the Pueblo Revolt of 1680; interpretive plaques along the way tell the story of Santa Fe. The location of the Cross gives you a vantage point to take in a truly lovely panoramic view of Santa Fe. We will take the time for lunch prior to taking a docentguided tour of the Georgia O Keefe Museum a museum which offers insight into the artist s paintings as well as her creative process and the light and landscape that so inspired her. Balance of day is at your leisure to enjoy the Plaza. MEALS INCLUDED: BL DAY 3 Wednesday, October 26 CHIMAYO & TAOS After breakfast, you will travel the 60 miles to Chimayo to visit: Santuario de Chimayo, also known as the Lourdes of America, it is the most popular place of pilgrimage in New Mexico. You will be welcomed by a host who will discuss the history of the Chapel and its holy dirt where the crucifix of Nuestro Señor de Esquipulas was discovered. Many believe the dirt where the crucifix was discovered has miraculous qualities. Santo Niño de Atocha, a separate chapel, but also part of the Santuario, it contains a large display of baby shoes which have been donated by visitors over the years; some are left for the intercession of Santo Nino by those who are in need of His help or as thanks for prayers answered. Rancho de Chimayo, you will enjoy lunch. After lunch, you will continue on the Low Road to Taos, a route which takes you along the rapidfilled Rio Grande River as it winds through canyons and small orchards. In Taos, you will visit: Taos Pueblo a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this pueblo is still inhabited by Native Americans. The adobe dwelling is one of the most photographed and beloved pueblos in New Mexico. San Francisco de Assis Mission & The

Mysterious Image This mission is one of the most photographed in New Mexico and the Mysterious Picture defies scientific explanation. It is an image of Jesus, painted over 100 years ago, which mysteriously glows and changes dimensions when the room is darkened. We will stop for dinner en route back to Santa Fe. MEALS INCLUDED: BLD DAY 4, Thursday, October 27 SANTA FE Today will be a totally free day so that you may have time to further explore, on your own, the many museums, art galleries, shops and restaurants which Santa Fe has to offer. This evening there will be a much anticipated CONCERT by Fr. Bob Hutmacher and friends. MEALS INCLUDED: None DAY 5 Friday, October 28 ABIQUIU This morning, you will take about a 1-hour drive to Abiquiu where you will visit: Ghost Ranch located on 21,000 strikingly beautiful acres, it is where Georgia O Keefe lived and painted her famous landscapes. Our Ghost Ranch guide will take you to restricted areas of the ranch to view the scenes and actual locations of some of Ms. O Keefe s paintings. The scenery is breathtaking, filled with towering red rock walls, shifting light, and boundless big sky. You will have a cafeteria style lunch at Ghost Ranch before returning to Santa Fe where you will have the balance of the day at your leisure. MEALS INCLUDED: BL DAY 6, Saturday, October 29 ALBUQUERQUE Following breakfast, you ll check out of your Santa Fe hotel and will travel to Albuquerque.
