First, Charlie and Samantha announced that they are going to present us with our twelfth grandchild sometime in March. Lisa cannot wait to have another baby to hold and I am praying for another grandson. We are really short in the boy department although I must admit that you cannot beat a hug from a loving granddaughter. Second, I bought another AA truck. It is an early 1928 1 ton (emergency brake is on the left near the driver s door) and it is very unique in that it is a wood panel delivery truck. History, suggests that it was used in San Francisco as a delivery truck for a fish market located in China town. Restoration is almost complete; it just needs some of Ralph s love and attention. At the last meeting we all got a glimpse at what we will be doing during the fall tour. I cannot wait. Thanks to Tory and Linda for all the hard work they have done in order to put together what looks to be a great tour. Once again, we are having a tour close to home and I hope that those people that do not usually attend will join us. It will be an easy drive and a lot of fun. visit us on the web at www.tulsamodelafordclub.com

Nuts & Bolts (Or Miscellaneous Tidbits) by Ken Brust It is a fact that Model A folks are a joyful group filled to the brim with good humor! At least our group sure is. This was proven once again at the July breakfast when there were 40+ smiling faces enjoying the gathering. Within an arm s reach of me at our table were two members each with a foot in a cast and two others recovering from major surgery, yet all were engaged in the laughter and fun time. What a group! One new member remarked to me that he liked this club because the women were equally involved. Heck, what would we do without our gals?? After the breakfast, several members visited Town Village to display our cars. Gene McDonald, who was a past club member, now lives there. He was happy to see both us and our cars and it was good to visit with him. Soper s had a battery quit on them driving home but thanks to Marvin and Rich, they eventually got back on the road. How about the cover of the latest MAFCA Restorer Magazine? Congrats to Charlie and Samatha. Also a very nice article inside. Tulsa remains well represented in the Model A community thanks to fine articles like this and for the continued submittals by Barbara regarding our various Club activities. We had several members attend the car show at the Legends Assisted Living facility. We had burgers and dogs, some good music, lots to drink to beat the extreme heat and some fun rivalry exchanges between us and the Chevy folks! Donna, Jan and Margaret were the only gals who braved the heat. Well done, you three! Mark your calendar now for the Fall Tour to Joplin, October 15-18. (see separate article for details). Our Tulsa Club The Rumble Sheet - 2 - August 2015 is planning this tour plus the Spring Tour in 2016. If anyone is interested in taking the lead in planning the Spring Tour, please talk with a Board member. It is always nice to be able to welcome new members to our growing club. Some of the newer families include the Pogue s, Lairmore s, Nicholson s, Quigley s, Misner s and Jackson s. Also, Allan Hall and Randy Russell have Model As, have attended our recent picnic and are in the process of completing their memberships. Welcome to all of you newer members. We look forward to getting better acquainted with you all. I guess the word is out that we really are a fun car club!! The Glidden Car Tour is in Oklahoma City this year, from August 30 - September 4. The host hotel is the Wyndham Gardens Hotel, 2101 S. Meridan Ave, OKC. The Sooner Club has been asked to conduct the car games and is asking for volunteers to help. The car games are scheduled for Sunday, August 30. If you want to help, contact Joanna Cooper or Will Langford. Robert and Elaine Bullard, Tulsa members who currently reside in Texas, are registered. Should be a nice opportunity to see them again and a variety of vintage cars. Happy Trails!

TRI-STATE ROUTE 66 FALL TOUR The sweltering heat this summer may have you looking forward to crisp fall days. Look to October! We have a cool Fall Tour scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 15-17. We ll head for Joplin, Missouri, on Thursday the 15th, check into our hotel and participate in Joplin s Third Thursday Art Fair. Arts and Crafts, live music, food trucks, shops and restaurants will keep us busy while our Model A s steal the show. Friday our Route 66 adventure will have us visiting several sites in Carthage, Missouri, returning to Joplin to explore in the afternoon. Our day out will offer some driving, museums, shopping and, of course, food. Saturday, we visit three Joplin sites as we head to Kansas for a wealth of fun and history at Route 66 stops. We ll have dinner back in Joplin at the historic Gryphon Building. Gangsters were active in the heyday of this building. We ve seen some gangsters from our Club in the past. I wonder if they might show up at this dinner? There will be a prize for the best dressed. Sunday we ll head for home, refreshed and relaxed after a weekend with our Model A friends. Saturday Breakfast, August 15, Will Rogers Fly-In This year marks the 80th Anniversary of Will s and Wiley s 1935 fatal crash in Alaska. Since their crash date was on August 15, the Fly-In has been scheduled for Saturday this year instead of the normal Sunday morning event which we have attended in the past. The event is at the Will Rogers Ranch in Oolagah. Each member attending from the Model A Club and all pilots who fly in will be provided a $5 ticket good towards food and drinks from various food trucks on site. Previously, we had been provided a breakfast along with the pilots who flew in but the Will Rogers Museum is trying something different this year. Our Club has always enjoyed a close relationship with the Will Rogers Museum due to the close friendship between Henry Ford and Will. Mark your calendar now for Saturday, August 15, and call Ken Brust (918 728-2015) or email (kvbrust@cox. net) if you plan to bring your Model A and with the number of breakfast tickets you need. Ken would like to have the number by August 11. We will meet at the QT in Broken Arrow on Kenosha (71st) and County Line Road at 7:30am to caravan up to Oolagah. This is a fun and meaningful event if you have not attended previously.
