Jan, 2013 President: Karl Raabe 352-732-6180 V.P.: Carl Hendrix 713-303-6473 Secretary: Janet Marks 407-886-7610 Treasurer: Nancy Leonard 407-886-2147 Editor: Steve Griffin 352-797-7893 Best wishes for a healthy, happy year of camping, traveling and memory-making. February Birthdays: Carol Griffin 1st Carl Hendrix 11th Wanda Creamer 21st Happy Anniversary to: None in February! Cares & Concerns Please keep the following in your thoughts and prayers: Ken & Brandy Cole health issues Diane Gonya: continuing radiation treatment for stage 0 cancer. Shirley Zummo general health issues. Jerry Breitweiser diagnosis of some chronic pains. The men managed to outlast the women as the women got a lot of hits but not many hitters scored. Good hitting by some of the men paved the road to victory. Golden Triangle Sams started the 2013 New Year camping at Lake Ocklawaha located north of Silver Springs and adjacent to Ocala National Forest. As usual, on Thursday the early bird arrivals did some relaxing and game playing and enjoyed the cool overcast day. Friday at noon 3 fire pits, provided by Himes, Basener and Leonard, had burnt down to small flames and coals to allow cooking hotdogs, pie iron sandwiches and deserts and topped off with brown to charcoal marsh mellows. After lunch a large number of people assisted the Wrights with cutting and organizing coupons. The Wright s reported that Friday and Saturday s coupon value was $33,131. During the evening a few played games, trivia and line dance. For Saturday morning breakfast we shared cereals with various fruits. The Chapter meeting followed at 10:00. Drive ins were Ken Cole and Phyllis and Dale Horn. Ken and Brandy re-donated the Alliance $100 coupon back to GTS to use it as part of a raffle to help raise charity money. Karl also raffled off to the members three RV items provided by Tri-Am RV Center in Ocala. We also again enjoyed visiting with Sharon and Roger Hime s South Carolina friends Ted and Colleen Litz who drove in for the day. After lunch we played beanbag baseball. The men continued their winning ways. We then played washer toss, ladder golf and broche ball. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon. For dinner the members served each other a pot luck dinner. The food was delicious and we had way more then we could eat. No doubt about it we have some wonderful cooks in our chapter. Sunday morning we enjoyed sweets and coffee and the promised rain did not show so we had a cloudy but dry departure. Thanks to our hosts the Griffins, Baseners and Van der Boks.
