Phelps, NY 14532 315-548-3168 jempson@fltg.net Letter to members of Wayne Drumlins President s Message July 2011 Thank you Vice President Matt Canavan for doing a great job of running the June meeting. Martha and I were in Rochester all week for the Jazz Festival which is an amazing live music event. June is the beginning of summer and all the car shows and cruise nights, but the weather has not always been dependable. At least nine of us braved the rain clouds to participate in the Legendary Interiors show in Newark. Richard Dierks had the top down on his 64 Dodge Polara convertible to show off the beautiful new red vinyl interior from Legendary. Most of us won door prizes, in our case a nice $50 Wireless World cell phone gift card. There are lots of Wayne Drumlins cars I haven t seen yet this summer so bring em out and show them off at one of the local shows, cruise nights or ice cream runs and join your friends from the club. At the June meeting you talked about coming up with a way to better identify our cars as part of Wayne Drumlins which is a really good idea. Our July meeting is at Rapp s at 2460 Andrews Road in Canandaigua (between Rt. 21 and North Road). Please bring an ice cream topping and an interesting car if you possibly can. This is always a good time to invite new people who have an interest in the club. My closest cruise night is Thursdays at the Canandaigua Wegmans, so maybe I ll see you there or certainly for ice cream on one of those Wednesday summer evenings. Loren Gifford

Our first Car Show this year was the Twin Tiers Vintage Car Show in Elmira. This was a spur of the moment idea that came from Pete s sister who lives nearby. We debated whether or not to take a car for the Show because it looked like rain. Sorry to say we chickened out in the morning and drove our every day vehicle. It took us a couple of hours to get there and by that time, the weather cleared and it turned into a beautiful day. We first took in the flea market. Of course there were a couple of things that caught someone s eye and purchases were made. Next, we visited the Farmer s Museum which was located at the Fairgrounds. It was very nicely displayed. It takes you back a step when you see items in the Museum that you grew up using. I m sure that has never happened to any of you. Right? After reminiscing, we found our way to the Show Field. There were many notable vehicles. I have included some pictures. By now it was lunch time of course. We had a chicken barbeque and continued. We saw Ed Hunt with his vehicle and visited for a few minutes. Then on our way to our vehicle, it was a couple of stops at some new vendors in the flea market area (late comers). We also met a very nice lady from their Club, whom we complimented on the nice show, who took our name and phone number. We had asked if they could send us some registration material for next year. That very evening we received a phone call from the editor of their newsletter, exchanged email addresses and have new contacts. Pete and I discussed the possibility of this being a club event next year. What do you think? Let us know. Information from their newsletter states that they had 307 registered vehicles and 57 flea market vendors to give you an idea of the size of the Show. -Jean Bobby Allison 1975 1961 Falcon Ranchero A couple of interesting rear shots!
