Volume 3 September 10, 2013 - Issue 9 P.O. Box 209, Unionville, VA 22567 rrrha@live.com & www.rrrha.com President Jim Lillard Treasurer Gary White Vice President Earl Mesimer Secretary Robert Painter Chaplain John Graham Web Manager John Underwood Find of the Month Congratulations Butch B.!!

The September 10, 2013 meeting of the Rapidan River Relic Hunters Association opened with prayer at 7:00 p.m. at the Unionville Virginia Ruritan Building with 19 members and 0 guests present. Club President Jim Lillard presided over the meeting. Gary White provided the Treasurer s report showing $6,878.09 in the treasury. The evening s 50/50 drawing was held with $35.00 won by Butch B. who graciously donated his winnings back to the club. Thank you Butch! Greg Heath gave his revised presentation on Relics of Lee s Retreat Route. Greg and friends have found a number of excellent artifacts over the years and we thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. Our thanks go out to Greg for a well done presentation. Find of the Month Three nice relics were up for find of the month. A colonial wax seal, a Block I button, and one of a threesome of Block A buttons. The vote was again close but the Block A button prevailed. Old Business Bob P. gave a final update for this upcoming weekend s Central Virginia Civil War Show. Of the 54 six-foot tables 28 tables have been reserved by dealers, accounting for $880. If you are setting up as a dealer at the show, let Bob know so a table can be set aside. There will be a Relic Collection display area for those club members who are willing to show a part of their collection. The more the better. Expenses for the show are projected to be around $1,500. Minelab Americas has generously donated to the club through Fort Bedford Detectors, a Minelab 705 metal detector and a Minelab backpack full of goodies. Minelab also donated two additional backpacks through Sgt. Rikers. Bob Painter donated two Civil War prints as well. We will be holding a raffle for these prizes. Tickets will be $2.00 each or three for $5.00. Fort Bedford Detectors and Sgt. Rikers will be setup at the show and will be giving out complimentary Minelab products.

Beau Omminette and Michael Bennett have confirmed they will be at the show as our guest YouTube stars. Michael is known as NuggetNoggin is the number one most popular YouTube relic hunting personality and Beau as AquaChigger is the number two most popular. The show hall has a large video screen and we will have YouTube videos produced by Beau and Michael showing continuously in the background. Food service at the show we have the kitchen and it has a coffee maker, warming bin, cooler, and a microwave. We can have a club members prepare and sell, we can have someone else take care of it, or we cannot utilize the kitchen at all. Regardless, the club will have coffee and donuts for the vendors and club members during setup. Bob again placed emphasis on spreading the word between now and the show. The next three days should find club members making a final effort to put up flyers, send emails, announce again on any forums you are a member of, and on your facebook page. The last of the flyers were handed out at the meeting. We need club members to handle the following jobs: Sign Crew Two or more members to set out and pick up signs at strategic locations directing visitors to the event. Also set out the bigger banner at the entrance road to the center. Four Doorman (collect entrance fee and stamp hands) Two in the morning and two at 1 p.m. Two Raffle Ticket Sellers One in the morning and one after 1 p.m. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to fill the indoor positions. The Picnic Committee reported they have reserved the Lenn Park pavilion (at Stevensburg) in Culpeper Co., so we can hold our regular October 8 meeting there. The meeting would include a fine pork barbeque dinner right on a Civil War battle site. The feast will be for club members and one guest and will start at 6 p.m. The picnic will include Greg s famous barbeque along with drinks, however each of us are asked to bring a covered dish to compliment the meal. New Business No new business was discussed. The meeting was adjourned with prayer at 8:35 p.m. Next Month s Theme Bring the best thing you found at our Civil War Show! Memories count! Next Month s Speaker No speaker will be scheduled.
