18th century courtyard hotel set on the shores of Rutland Water
18th century courtyard hotel set on the shores of Rutland Water Idyllic surroundings that just cannot be bettered In the 18th c. the heathcote family created a distinguished house and parkland at Normanton between 1729 and 1829 which, eventually, by succession, became the seat of the Earls of Ancaster. In the 1920 s the bulk of the estate was sold, the hall demolished and only the stone stable block remained. The valley might have continued as fertile farmland, but in 1970 Royal Assent was given for the construction of Rutland Water. Rutland is England s smallest county, steeped in tradition, with sleepy villages, ancient market towns and leafy lanes, drawing you towards the shimmering beauty of Rutland Water. Following extensive renovation BEST WESTERN Normanton Park Hotel was created from the 18th century stone remains and today stands in an idyllic setting of 5 acres overlooking the shores of the beautiful Rutland Water. All our thirty en-suite bedrooms are nonsmoking and 16 are available with beautiful views looking over Rutland Water. Every room is well appointed with tea/coffee making facilities, flat screen TV and free wifi. Turn off the Edith Weston village road and follow the gravelled driveway for two hundred metres, before entering the wide, spacious courtyard and parking area in front of reception. BEST WESTERN Normanton Park Hotel is a privately run country house hotel and restaurant, where you ll find a warm welcome and comfortable surroundings in an unbeatable idyllic location.
