Henry s A s Minutes 7-19 -18 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 by V.P Dave McArthur. 12 families were present. There were no guests. The minutes which were e -mailed from Wes Huffman were accepted. Nil s Roos announced the 14 raffle prizes. Dave thanked Kathy Morte, Jackie Roos, June and others for refreshments. There were no July birthdays. Dave gave the report on the Kolb truck: Elisabeth says that her insurance require that all drivers will need to be fingerprinted. As it costs $45 for this she will pay for our members. Reno Convention report from Dave: Although the repair tent was very busy, they only had three serious break-downs. The parts vendors ( Rusty Lugs) who came from Washington brought lots of parts, were very helpful and had good prices. The Mortes won one of the wine gift baskets from Henry s A s, The Mc arthurs Won The nifty Centerpiece, a whirly -gig of a man cranking his Model A, from the banquet dinner, The McArthurs also received their 25 year pin from Mafca. The Nelsons reported that they all enjoyed the lunch at Mj s Downtown Café in Brentwood and would recommend returning as it is in a convienent location. The Aug 8 th luncheon will be at Los Poncho on San Ramon Blvd at 11:30. Reminder to put Kelly Park on your calendars for Sept the 23 rd. Treasurer Roland Smith passed out the reports and they were approved. Technical: Bob LaFollet reported working on Barry s leaking intake and exhaust manifold. It turns out that he has an Aries Muffler which takes a larger clamp, it was replaced and the problem solved. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 and followed by the raffle. Respectfully submitted, Secretary, Jackie Brooks Greetings from Colorado. Wow that is a deep canyon!

President s Message July 2018 Sorry I missed the last meeting but my understanding is that, as always, our illustrious vice president performed admirably and the result was a big success. Barbara and I were celebrating our 20 th Anniversary at the Historic Benbow Inn in Garberville CA. It was idyllic a peaceful and pleasant time enjoyed by us both as well as with one of my Navy buddies and his wife from my days on the USS Swordfish (may she rest in peace ). I was introduced to several vendors at the Reno Convention which I thought worth mentioning to you. First and formost, we were camped next to Amanda Uthe and her family in the parking lot of the Nugget at the National Convention. Amanda owns Rusty Lugs Parts and they sold a lot of them at that event. She and her father Jeff had no problems getting their hands dirty and joining us in repairing members cars. Amanda Uthe with a really fine 31 SW Sedan Another vendor of interest advertises in the Restorer and sells a modern shock kit for Model A s. I own one of the modern shock kits sold by Snyders and it works well on my 4D SW Sedan, but it requires drilling holes in the frame to mount the rear shocks. CMR Sales (Charlie M. Ratcliff Sales) 843-830-9637 near Charleston SC sells a kit for a little less that requires no drilling. Speaking with Charlie is an adventure all of its own he is the South all over. He made a custom bracket about 30 years ago for his own car and has sold thousands of them since. He says he has had no complaints in 30 years. Lastly I saw an installation of turn signals that was totally unique to what I bought at Snyders. It is made by SM ElectroTec at 763-780-2861. Firstly the turn signals are self-cancelling a useful feature. You can use either the familiar steering column mount lever or a hidden self returning toggle switch out of sight under the dash. There are two LEDs, one red and one green, mounted in holes in the steering wheel support bracket to tell you which one is blinking. Jeff Uthe and the Rusty Lugs Parts Trailer with a fine /31 Pickup!

Finally I bring you a photo from the convention I found most interesting. Model A s forever.rick More behavior reports from the biggest little city in the world All you can eat pasta dinner supplies ran very low; after the Henry s A s group showed up. This was followed by desert!!!!

Now back to work at the repair center (for a nap)

Nils took some pics of vehicles ready for judging

Here kitty kitty! As I was driving thru the woods one day I recently took a drive to the mountains in my old 34 Ford to check on my motion camera. I got to the cabin in only twice the time it would have taken in a modern car but it was fine ride. Upon arrival I pulled the SD card out of the digital camera and inserted it into the U.S.B. connector on my MacBook Air. The image above is what I found. On the way home I cranked in my windshield and rolled up the windows. You can t be too careful these days. Roger Griffith
