Minutes for HVMTC General Meeting at Charlie's Restaurant December 18 th, 2013 Meeting opened at 7:00pm by HVMTC President, Doug Lested. Members attending included Doug Lested, Jim Ottaviani, Mac & Diane MacPherson, Anne Tunnell, Dale & Eleanor, John & Karen Pepe, Tony Bowker and Vic & Stephanie Terrell. Jim lead the Pledge The minutes for the November meeting were included in the last newsletter, Diane motioned for approval, seconded by Anne, passed unanimously. Diane assured the members that we have sufficient funds to continue, with a detailed report available to members. Stephanie was concerned by many of the propose tours for 2014 being with the Model A club. Not that she had any objections to Model As or their owners but feels the Model T's should run as a group separate from the A's. This will be implemented as far as possible. Stephanie asked John to report on the Xmas lights tour, he mentioned the lit wheels on Vic's car and the route and the TREE, a 65 foot decorated monster, on Rees Ave. At this time John reported his Fordor ran out of electrons and was parked. When he came to pick it up, he did not realize that this Rees Ave was in San Marcos, not Escondido... Confusion reigned including three U-turns with trucks and trailers... Everyone thanked Mac for choosing the route. The January tour is scheduled for Sunday 12 th and will be to the Orange County Railway Museum in Perris. The tour will meet at the Park and Ride at Hwy 76 and I-15 at 8:15am for an 8:30am departure. Mac spoke of the fun he had driving a train at the museum, a father's day gift. The February 1 tour will be to the Buena Vista Adobe leaving from Performing Arts Center at 9am, leave at 9:30. The discussion on moving the club meeting back to the first Wednesday in the month. The issue was discussed extensively, Tony explained that a meeting earlier in the month will allow us to discuss the upcoming tour nearer the actual date. After considerable discussion, Tony proposed that the meeting be moved back to the first Wednesday in the month, seconded by Mac. The motion was passed unanimously with no objections. Doug then ran the drawing, with the guess the day, week or month based on various pictures. As usual each correct guess was rewarded with drawing tickets, the 50/50 drawing of $20 was won by Doug. Being no further business, Doug closed the meeting at 8pm. Respectfully submitted Tony Bowker, Secretary January 2014 Hidden Valley Model T Club Commutator Page 2
Christmas Lights Tour This was a great idea by Mac who came up with the idea and organized the route. It started with dinner at Cocos where there was quite a crowd. We even got new members, Doug & Neta Anderson, welcome aboard. There were five Model T's, President Doug, Victor & Stephanie, John & Karen, Phil & Kimba and Tony & Heather. In addition Dale & Eleanor had their 1946 Mercury. Everyone else were in modern iron. The Pepe's Fordor, all lit up All five T's were adorned with lights, some even lasted the whole tour. Vic had his wheels lit up, I understand there were battery powered, they looked great. The Pepe's and Bowker's arrived a little late as they had been on a San Diego club tour to take pictures of the USS Midway for the web site advertising the 2014 National Tour. Mac rode with Doug so we didn't have to read the route instructions, just as well because our flashlight battery would not have lasted... We drove across Escondido city center, then into the houses north of Bear Valley then crossed over Center City towards Country Club. Mac had done a great job of finding well lit house, some were amazing, they must have spent hours & hours setting the The Terrell's roadster pickup, "Tommy" arrangements, The biggest lit tree was on Rees, we later found they use a Manlift to reach the top. It was just after this when John's battery ran out of poop and they left the car and came with us in the touring. After arriving back at Cocos, the Bowker's and Pepe's went back to rescue the dead Fordor. Mac's idea of the Xmas lights tour was a great idea, lighting the Model T's was great fun. My '14 Touring has a 12 volt battery so I used a cheap inverter from Harbor Freight and Walmart LED lights. It is almost worth using 12 volt just for this, besides the easy starting and good lights! Great Tour, thanks Mac. Available 10" Montgomery Ward Radial Arm Saw with large 3' by 5' table and a mobile stand with two shelves and wheels. Metal Cutting Band Saw, 3/4 HP, 120 Volt with a 4 1/2 inch cutting size. This is an older Taiwan brand imported before the Chinese units came out. Sears MIG Welding Unit, 120 Volt 75 AMP. Wire Feed Harbor Freight 2 HP, 120 Volt Dust Collector with two fabric bags and mobile base. Craig French 760-727-5046 January 2014 Hidden Valley Model T Club Commutator Page 4
Excess Tools Hidden Valley Commutator When you have thousands of model T tools, then you find artistic ways to use them. The artist lives near Boort, Victoria, Australia and does it all by himself from a wheel chair. Amazing! (From an email.) I wonder how many FORD wrenches are used...enjoy.
