DAY 2 : Sunday, August 19 Awaken to a healthy breakfast served in the hotel s intimate courtyard featuring a refreshing fountain. Walk to an early lunch near the bilingual library or share one of the many affordable taxis available. At noon, you ll have the option to depart for San Miguel s most popular tourist activity, the Sunday Home and Garden tour. We ll see behind the hidden walls of San Miguel s interesting homes. On our visit we may see anything from a Colonial mansion to a tiny adobe house, a splendid new home or an artist s domain. Afternoon is yours to explore the cobblestone streets, (bring supportive walking shoes) have a massage nearby, engage in interesting conversation with the locals or just rest at our lovely hotel. There s so much to do and we ll update you on a daily basis about your many choices. You re always welcome to join Cynthia for dinner or venture out on your own to one of the many fabulous restaurants in SMA. The local custom is to dine late by American standards (beginning at 8pm) but restaurants serve earlier in the evening as well. And if you re up for it, there s plenty happening in the exceptional cantinas and entertainment spots in this city. DAY 3 : Monday, August 20 After breakfast, we ll take a short walk to the central park (Le Jardine) facing the world-famous and unique La Parroquia church and those who wish will take an optional tour with our local guide for an historical tour of this small city in the mountains. Follow the tradition and enjoy a long, leisurely lunch (our tour will reveal lots of interesting, delicious and affordable restaurant choices.) Afternoon is yours to return to your favorite place discovered on our morning tour. Perhap you d like to shop the Artisanal Market. There s so much to do! DAY 4 : Tuesday, August 21 We ll depart after breakfast by private transport (included in tour) to La Tianguis de los Martes, the colorful local Tuesday market. We ll shop with the locals and gringos for inexpensive clothing, leather sandals, sunglasses, and any number of interesting things. Enjoy the stunning abundance of colorful fruits, vegetables, and street food. It s a great place for people watching too! We ll be taken back to our hotel where you are free for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon. Go out on the town for dinner and evening on your own or join Cynthia. While you re in SMA, be sure to watch a sunset from the rooftop of one of the many watering establishments in town. And take time to wander in Le Jardine after dinner and enjoy live Mariachi music performed every evening. DAY 5 : Wednesday, August 22 Atontonilco & La Gruta Morning departure for Atontonilco, a small town just outside of San Miguel de Allende and a UNESCO World Heritage Site where we ll marvel at the extensive murals of the church known as The Sistine Chapel of Mexico. We can shop the local market where handicrafts are very inexpensive. At lunch time, we ll depart for La Gruta Hot Springs where we ll have lunch then relax in any of 3 different pools of natural thermal water. Massage available. Or if you prefer, remain in San Miguel de Allende for a relaxing day doing whatever you choose.
DAY 6 : Thursday, August 23 Happy day! San Miguel lies on your door step! Continue to explore this amazing city on our last day in.
