If you have already renewed your membership for this year and would like to upgrade your membership, call or visit the Oglebay Good Zoo office (304-243-4100) and inform us of your membership upgrade preference. Our team will calculate the difference between your current membership and the new one. You will only pay the difference. We are unable to perform membership downgrades until the time for membership renewal. FRIENDS OF THE OGLEBAY...MEMBERSHIP FAQ What is the daily admission rate for adults and children? Admission rates for the Oglebay Good Zoo are $9.95 for adults, $5.95 for children 3-12 years, and children 2 years and under are admitted free. The train ride is an additional $2.95 per person. As a zoo member you will receive free admission during normal operating hours. The train ride will be at the reduced rate of $1.95 or free, depending on your membership level. Admission for special events will be at a reduced rate. All rates are subject to change and to applicable taxes and fees. Would I be able to purchase a membership the day of my visit? Yes, memberships may be purchased at the admission gate and will include your admission for the day. Retain your copy of the membership application with the attached receipt as proof of membership until your card arrives. What if I decide after entering the zoo that I would like to become a member? If you purchase a membership the same day that you paid admission to visit the zoo, you may apply the amount paid for the individuals that will be covered under the membership towards the purchase. Please note that the admission paid may only be applied if purchasing the membership on the day you visit the zoo. You must have your receipt. How does the zoo define a household and dependent children for memberships? A household is defined as individuals living in the same dwelling in which they file joint taxes or are claimed as a dependent on your tax return. When will I receive my membership card? Please allow 3 weeks for processing and delivery. If you haven t received your card in this time frame, please contact the zoo office at 304-243-4100. How many cards will I receive? The two adults listed on the membership will each receive a card. Can I get my membership card the same day? Yes, anyone purchasing a membership may bring their application to the front office before touring the zoo. Prior to leaving, stop by the zoo office to pick up your card. You may also use the copy of the membership application with attached receipt as proof of membership until you receive your card. Can I get my membership card the same day if I am not visiting the zoo? Yes. However, due to office workload, there may be a waiting period. To avoid a wait we suggest that you call ahead (304-243-4100) and complete the application over the phone. The office staff will have your card ready when you arrive. Do you have reciprocity agreements with other zoos? Yes, we have reciprocity agreements with approximately 150 zoos across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Of these 150, approximately 80 reciprocate with free admission when you present your membership card and photo ID. All other zoos will reciprocate at the 50% discount. All reciprocating zoos are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. As each zoo defines their Family membership differently; we recommend you call the reciprocal zoo prior to your visit for additional information. To view an entire list, visit www.oglebay.com/goodzoo. Reciprocal zoos may change their agreement at any time without prior notification to Oglebay Good Zoo members. Do I get discounts for birthday parties, camps or other education programs? Yes, members get discounts for summer camps, preschool programs, birthday parties, Master Naturalist classes, and many other programs offered at the zoo. Discounts vary per program, but generally members get approximately $40 off a birthday party and 10-20% off camps and other programs. Purchase your memberships by the day of your birthday party or prior to registering for any programs to receive the discount. The Individual membership level does not receive discounts for birthday parties and camps. My spouse will not use a membership. May I choose another family member as the second adult and include their children? No, memberships are good for 2 adults living in the same household. FRIENDS OF THE OGLEBAY...MEMBERSHIP FAQ Can my childcare provider use my membership card to bring my child/children? Yes, your childcare provider must have your membership card with her upon arrival. Your children will receive free admission, and the childcare provider can use a guest pass (if applicable) or pay regular admission. May I bring a guest if the second adult listed on the card can t attend? No, all memberships are non-transferable. Only the names listed on the card are admitted. Photo ID is required upon admission. If you have a Family or Grandparent Plus membership you may use the guest passes for your guest. How do I add a guest? The Family Plus and Grandparent Plus levels come with 10 guest passes. The Sustaining and Patron levels come with 20 guest passes. I want to change membership levels. Do I have to wait until time to renew to do so? You may upgrade to a higher level at anytime during the year by paying the difference between your current membership and cost of the higher level. Unfortunately if you want to change to a lower level you will need to wait till time to renew your membership. Do members receive discounts in the shops? Yes, members will receive a 10% discount on merchandise purchased at Nature Express, Lorikeet, and Gem Sluice (does not apply to items already discounted). Membership cards and photo ID must be presented to the sales clerk before the sale is finalized. Discount applies to Zoo Members only. Other family members and friends will not be permitted to use your membership to receive discount. How long do I have to use the guest passes and/or train tickets? Guest passes and train tickets do not have an expiration date and will be accepted during normal operating hours. Guest passes and train tickets may not be used for field trips, group programs, education programs, and special events. Can the guest passes be used at other zoos? No, the Oglebay Good Zoo guest passes will not be honored by other zoos and the Oglebay Good Zoo will not honor other zoo s guest passes. What happens if I lose my card? If you lose your card, you can show your photo ID at the gate for admittance. You will need to apply for a duplicate card at the zoo office. If I forget to bring our mugs will we still be able to get the $1 drinks? Each person must have his/her mug to be able to receive the $1 refills. If I lose my mug will I be able to get a replacement, and if so, how do I get it? A replacement mug may be purchased for $3.00 with membership card and photo ID. How will I be notified of upcoming events and programs? By providing your email address, you will receive our emails. You will find information on upcoming special events, animal births, camps, and much more. For those who prefer a printed copy you may opt to pay an additional $10 when purchasing/renewing your membership to have it mailed to you. Can children and grandchildren be listed on the same membership? No, if you purchase a Family membership only your children will be covered. Grandchildren may not be added. Will all of my grandchildren be admitted if I purchase a Grandparent membership? You may include all your grandchildren under the age of 21 on your membership; however, our policy only permits 6 grandchildren per visit to enter on the membership during a visit.

No, free membership admission does not apply to group visits and field trips due to additional programming and expenses related to these visits. Can I purchase a membership as a gift for another family? Yes, memberships may be purchased as gifts. When purchasing, please have: the names of the 2 adults in the household, mailing address, phone number, email address, names and birthdays of children or grandchildren. Is my membership good for a year from the date of purchase or calendar year? Memberships will expire the last day of the month in which you purchase it. For example, if you purchase a membership on June 14, 2016. the expiration date will be June 30, 2017. When I renew, what will be my new expiration date? Memberships automatically renew from the current expiration date. If your membership has lapsed, the new expiration date will be one year from the last day of the month in which you renewed it. Is the zoo open year round? Hours of operation vary depending on the season, but the zoo is open year round. All scheduled education programs, birthday parties, and other activities are still ongoing. How can I best support conservation and the Oglebay Good Zoo? You may support wildlife conservation and the Oglebay Good Zoo by visiting the zoo with your family, enrolling your children in camp, attending Master Naturalist programs, donating to zoo conservation and animal care programs, and by becoming a member of Oglebay Good Zoo.
FRIENDS OF THE OGLEBAY...RECIPROCAL ZOOS 2018-19 Reciprocity List Valid March 1, 2018 through March 31, 2019 Your membership with the Oglebay Good Zoo includes an admission discount to the zoos and aquariums listed below. Discounted admission does not include Oglebay Good Zoo special events. Oglebay Good Zoo defines Family as 2 adults and children under the age of 21 living in a single household. 100% & 50% - Members will receive free admission with membership card and photo ID. 50% - Members* will receive 50% off of reciprocal zoo s admission rate with membership card and photo ID. Free - Admission is free to the public. Other discounts may apply. *Please note: The number of visitors admitted with a family membership at reciprocal zoos may vary, and parking may not be included. Always call ahead to check reciprocity. Participation is voluntary and changes can occur. If you plan a visit to one of these zoos, contact them first to confirm they will honor your Oglebay Good Zoo membership. If you are visiting us from another zoo, we reciprocate 50% admission for the two adults named on the card (photo ID required) and children included on the membership. FRIENDS OF THE OGLEBAY...RECIPROCAL VISITORS 2018-19 Reciprocity Policy for Visiting Members Admission Benefits: The Oglebay Good Zoo will extend discounted admission to members of all facilities listed on the 2018-19 Reciprocal Zoo List. The discount amount extended is determined by the agreement made between the Oglebay Good Zoo and the reciprocal facility and can vary by institution. Admission benefits will be extended to the following membership categories: Individual adult named on membership only Family 2 named adults and children covered under the membership under the age of 21 Grandparents 2 named adults and up to 6 grandchildren covered under the membership under the age of 21 Higher level memberships will be admitted under our Family definition Note: Additional adults or children and guests will be asked to pay the daily admission fee. Reciprocity Guidelines: Visiting members MUST present a current membership card and photo identification to receive the admission benefit. If a member has lost their card, it is his/her responsibility to have their facility notify us in advance of their visit, or visiting members will be asked to pay the daily admission fee. The Oglebay Good Zoo will not extend free or reduced admission to any adult whose name does not appear on the membership card. They will be asked to pay the daily admission fee. For membership cards listing 3 or more adults (including nannies or kid keepers), the Oglebay Good Zoo will extend free or reduced admission to the 2 primary adults only. Additional adults will be asked to pay the daily admission fee. Guest passes, membership guest privileges, and Guest of cards will not be honored for reciprocal admission. Guests will be asked to pay the daily admission fee. Temporary membership cards must have member s name, membership level, and expiration date to receive the reciprocation benefit.
