GOLDEN GATE FOGHORN January 2017 Special Military Active Recreational Travelers Volume 22-1 from the President Al Calise Hi Everyone. I was overwhelmed in the participation of our members and guests who attended our Christmas Muster at Jackson Rancheria RV Resort. We had 25 rigs at this Muster. I believe it is our most attended Muster for our Chapter. We had four guest rigs and are hoping they were impressed with our chapter and the fun we have at our Musters. I think they will be filling out the SMART Applications to become members of National and our Chapter. The meals and catered dinner were GREAT!!! Jim and Claire Taylor, the host for the Christmas Muster, did an outstanding job. Jim did all the cooking for our meals. I personally want to thank them for a job well done!!!! This was the first time they hosted a muster. Our chapter sponsored 25 veterans from the Veterans Home 2016 personalized holiday gift project. This is a traditional project that our Chapter does each year. In addition to the sponsored veterans, the members also donated gifts for the Veterans Home to be used by the home. Not stopping there, the ladies spent a morning making at least 12 lap robes which were also given to the Veterans Home. I want to thank everyone who worked on this project. It shows that we truly believe in helping individuals who are not as fortunate as we are. We had fun with the Christmas exchange of gifts which was run by Lucille Martin. Games were played and I have to say I was the big winner of the Card Bingo game. Also, congratulations to Roy Allen who won the 50/50 drawing. The weather was great, for most of the Muster, however we did have several cold nights and rain on the last two days of the Muster. It did not stop us from having fun and enjoying the company of our Golden Gate members. I could go on and on talking about our Christmas muster. In closing, Nancy and I want to wish each of you a happy holiday season and the best in the coming year. We are looking forward to see you all at our next muster in Feb 2017 at Flag City RV Resort. Hopefully you will put the SW Regional Muster, being held in April, on your calendars. Until then, safe travels until we see you again. GOD BLESS. Nancy & Al MEMBERSHIP DUES Golden Gate membership dues are due January 1. Dues are $20. Submit your dues to Phyllis Olin (see page 2 for address) or if coming to the Lodi muster, be prepared to pay at that time. In addition, SMART national dues should be paid on the anniversary of your original signup. You should receive a notice in the mail from headquarters. You cannot be a member of Golden Gate unless you are a member of SMART national in good standing. 1 P a g e
