The Eldora Ski Resort played an important role in the formation of the Flatirons Ski Club, as the club was started in the 60's by several Eldora ski instructors. It has always been a favorite place to ski for club members. Brent, the President & General Manager at Eldora, will give the club an update on all the exciting present and future developments at the resort. There will be ample time for Q&A so bring your questions. FSC Book Club - January 2018 Books for the New Year Date: Jan 8th at 7 pm Where: Jan s home in Boulder. Please send no more than 2 book nominations (title and author only) by January 4th. Recommendations for choosing books to Nominate: - If you want to make 2 nominations, please try to have one fiction and one non-fiction we would like to end up with about a 50/50 mix. - Know the book you are nominating either you have read it or at least parts of it or you know someone who has read it and really enjoyed it. - In addition to knowing the book, look at the Amazon star rating and reviews to get a perspective on how others viewed the book, consider whether the book topic will lead to a good discussion, consider the length really long books ( > 450 pages ) are less likely to be read completely. Or you could make a longer book your two nominations for two of the monthly meetings. If the book is new and only available in hardbound, consider the cost.

THANK YOU FROM THE SOCIAL CHAIR Flatirons Ski Club has the best volunteers anywhere which results in pretty awesome parties. Again you all came through when needed from the Planning Committee, the Set Up group who decorated, set up food stations and set the scene. Our turkey, ham and stuffing chefs again delivered for us. We had a wonderful music group accompanying the event and very much enjoyed the flute playing again this year. The cleanup crew were patient and thorough and we miraculously managed to return the hall to its original state. I would particularly like to thank our President Donna for her help with the overall planning and her skill in the kitchen. It is a group endeavor and again YOU WERE ALL AWESOME!! Thursday Hikers Thursday Hikers meet each week throughout the year. Fall hiking will take us up to mountain trails and cooler weather. Which trail we do is decided at 8:45a at Meadows Shopping Center taking into account weather and trail conditions. We'll continue to go high as long as weather permits, so come prepared. Bring food for lunch, snacks, water and clothing for the changing weather conditions. Later we'll do trails closer to town. We look forward to seeing new and old friends as we get to enjoy our mountains without the tourists! If there is rain or snow, call one of us to see if we are hiking that day. Connie or Sue.
