Surrounded by gentle meadows, this 300-year-old village speaks with quiet eloquence of New England s rural past. Visit the museum or stroll to see the restored dwellings that survived numerous Indian raids. Drink in the beauty of the Massachusetts countryside as we drive the Mohawk Trail through the Berkshire Mountains. Arrive in Williamstown and scatter for some lunch near the campus of Williams College. In the afternoon we pay a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum near Stockbridge. Many of his paintings appeared on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post. Return to Northampton where the balance of the day is set aside for your personal exploration. Meals: B Day 3 Calvin Coolidge Site / Rock of Ages Following the Connecticut River Valley we head for the Green Mountain State of Vermont. In Weston, visit the Vermont Country Store where they take pride in being purveyors of the practical and hard-to-find. Continue to Plymouth Notch and see the Calvin Coolidge Historic Site which celebrates the life of our 30th President. The afternoon drive takes us to Barre, VT, for a look at the mammouth Rock of Ages granite quarry that is famous around the world. Our day concludes when we check into our lodging in the heart of downtown Montpelier, Vermont s capital city. Meals: B, L

Green Mountains of Vermont Day 4 Maple Syrup / Franconia Notch Be entertained at historic Morse Farm Sugar Works where maple products have been produced for eight generations. We ll view a slide show on Vermont s most traditional occupation and enjoy tasty samples. Afterwards we ll cross the Connecticut River into the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and then climb to Franconia Notch. Here, a tram takes us to the top of Cannon Mountain for a spectacular view of the autumn foliage. We ll continue to our destination for two nights at the Mountain View Grand Resort. Meals: B, L, D Motif #1, Rockport, MA Covered Bridge, Bath, NH Day 5 Golden Pond / Kancamagus Highway A beautiful day trip is planned today. We ll head to Squam Lake and enjoy a narrated boat cruise operated by Squam Lake Natural Science Center. Hear the stories and legends of the lake that was the location for the famous 80 s movie, On Golden Pond. Following lunch, we embark on one of the most beautiful stretches of highway in New England, the famous Kancamagus Highway. Designated as a National Scenic Byway, this road travels through the heart of the scenic White Mountain National Forest. We ll return to our hotel in time for a relaxing evening. Meals: B, L, D Day 6 Maine / Portland Head Light Maine is known as the Pine Tree State and today our drive takes us through the forests to the rocky coast of the Atlantic. We ll visit Portland, where you can scatter for lunch and browse along the bustling waterfront. Later, stop to get pictures of the famous Portland Head Light which stands vigil at the entrance to Casco Bay. Afterwards, we ll check into our hotel downtown. We ll celebrate tonight with a traditional Maine Lobster Bake Dinner. Meals: B, D Day 7 Coastal Drive / Travel Home This morning we ll drive down the Atlantic coastline. In Portsmouth, enjoy the sight of 18th century homes built by sea captains. We ll stop in Gloucester before driving to Rockport, MA on Cape Ann. Here we find the most painted scene in New England, Motif #1. It s just a short drive down to Boston and your flight home. Meals: B
