Chapter 140 of the AAW Volume 7 Issue 03 March 2003 The February meeting unfortunately ended up being a rather long business meeting, as there were so many issues outstanding from the missed meeting in January. In future we will try to keep to our normal time for the business part of our meetings which is usually 10-15 minutes, in order to allow members to pick up their tools and make shavings fly and take full advantage of the equipment in our great facility. Thank you, to the members GBWG EXECUTIVE Contents: Co- Presidents: Ken Goldspink Marilyn Campbell Past President George Turton Vice-President George Turton Secretary- Treasurer Presidents Message 1 Alternate Saturday Openings 1 Kincardine Fire Hall Map 2 Upcoming Events 2 Letter from the Editor 3 Jack de Vos Registration 4 Membership Renewal 5 EDITOR: e-mail: lambert@bmts.com Presidents Message who assisted in placing the drum of End Seal on the barrel stand. It is now ready for decanting into the 4 litre jugs. Members, would you please save your empty 4 litre windshield washer jugs, which can be rinsed out and used for filling with Endseal. If you have any empties, please bring them to the next meeting. Only four members showed up for our first Saturday session on the 8 th March which was rather disappointing. Perhaps the poor turnout was due to the somewhat unpredictable weather that day. Hopefully as the weather improves we might have a bigger turnout with several members working on their pet projects. Please remember to bring your tools to all of our meetings. If you are not sure about the correct way to sharpen them, we can show you how. If any of you have surplus tools of any kind at home or duplicate tools, perhaps you might consider donating them to the club to build up a club tool kit. A sincere thank you to George Turton for donating an original Nova Scroll chuck to be used on our Delta lathe, this is a most welcome donation. We also received a donation of a set of three HSS Spindle Gouges, our thanks to the donor. During the summer months I am organizing craft demonstrations by various different craftspeople for the benefit of tourists and the public at large. These demonstrations will take place each Friday and Saturday in the months of June, July and August. In lieu of payment for their time demonstrating, I can offer the Artisans Free Display & Sales space for the work they have produced at home. So far I have signed up a potter from Durham and a lady sculptor from Toronto. If any of our club members or members of other clubs would like to participate in this project, please contact me by phone at (519)- 396-3787 or email : kengold@bmts.com Please remember members, that your $35.00 annual membership renewals are due as of 1 st of January, so please see Bert our Treasurer at the next meeting. Your memberships are our main source of revenue and allow us to bring in guest turners to demonstrate for us. Hope to see you all at our next meeting on 19 th March at 7.30pm.
