April 11, 1912 I have taken many trips in my life, such as when I went to Chieri. It was a place near Turin, Italy where I studied philosophy. Although the trip that my Uncle Robert had bought me a ticket for just cannot be beat. It was a ticket on the Titanic! I was staying in cabin A-37 in first class. I took many pictures of my time on the ship. Sadly, though, a telegram was sent to me to, and I quote, GET OFF THAT SHIP! I am not sure why I was told to do this, but I had a feeling that I should follow it. I was truly disappointed when I had to disembark in Queenstown, Ireland. I was able to take one last picture of the Titanic as it sailed off to America. At the moment I will have to return to my life as a Priest. I couldn t thank my Uncle enough. He had given me a once in a lifetime opportunity. Throughout the years he has been there for me such as when my parents passed and he took responsibility of me. I thank my Uncle Robert for the time of my life. -Francis M. Browne

April 10,1912 Dear Uncle Robert, I have never been on such luxurious ship in my life! Today I was able to stroll across the boat deck. The uppermost deck of the ship and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean. As I was admiring the magnificent structure, I saw the humongous four funnels. I wanted to educate myself more on the design of the ship. So I asked crew members on different facts. I found out that the ships main anchor is 18 feet and 6 inches in length. The workers in the boiler room have to shovel 900 tons of coal into the 159 furnaces to power all 29 of the boilers. Thats a lot of coal! Once I had learned enough for today I took the grand staircase to the reception room. The staircase is made from polished oak wood, wrought iron, and includes a variety of boutique glass. Before dinner I like to go the reception room and socialize with other passengers about our day. Right after I go to the dining hall that is 114 feet long. To make sure I stay in shape after eating the 7 course dinner. I have the choice to go to the gymnasium or swimming pool to burn off the calories. I m able to clean myself in my first class cabin I m staying in that cost $4,246! The cabin and bathroom has electric heaters. They keeps me very warm at night. I have experienced so much on this trip and can t wait to learn more. When I see you next I will tell you even more about the astounding Titanic. Love, Francis Uncle Robert Glasheen,Cork 16784 Ireland

Southampton Post The Unsinkable Ship Has Sunk! April 19,1912 Tragedy has struck! We have gotten reports that the unsinkable has sunk! On the night of Sunday April 14 the Marconic wireless station in Cape Race had gotten a report from the Titanic saying it had struck an iceberg. The Titanic needed immediate assistance. More reports had been coming in about the head sinking into the water, and women and children were being loaded into life boats. The Titanic then reported their coordinates in the North Atlantic at 41.46 north latitude and 50.14 west longitude. Many ships near by were reporting their coordinates on how far they were from the Titanic, and rushing to get there. The last signals from the Titanic were at 12:27 AM, and said were hard to understand and ended suddenly. The Carpathia was the first ship to arrive. All they arrived to though was lifeboats and debris that was left of the Titanic. The biggest ship of this time had sank. 886 passengers were taken on to the ship to New York. We are devastated to hear this awful news. We hope everyone the best. Us here at Southampton Post send of condolences to the families that lost loved ones. -Andrea Basalo Chief Editor, Southampton Post A photo taken by Francis Browne in Cobh, Ireland. This is the last photo taken of the ship before it sank.

Wonder as I stared at the picture of the outstanding titanic I wondered what horror it must of been the night it sank hearing the roar of the ship colliding with the iceberg the confusion between the workers the panic slowly spreading across the passengers lifeboats being loaded the cries of children being separated from loved ones people giving up hope and jumping into the freezing atlantic then there were ones who were fortunate enough to be in a lifeboat lifeboats witnessed the ship split in half and others were in the ship as it happened the struggle it must of been to fight for your life Being uncertained if you will live or die the unsinkable sank the ones in the lifeboats were lucky to live the ones who went down with the Titanic were not some were left in the water to freeze what a tragedy it must of been to witness I am grateful to not have attended it

3rd class passenger Daniel Buckley 21 years old Traveling alone I awoke to a terrible noise, and water in my cabin. I admittedly got dressed and awoke my cabin mates.my cabin mates mocked me, but once they saw the water they started getting dressed too. I left my cabin while they were dressing. Two sailors were yelling to get up on the deck if you didnt want to drown. I tried to get to the deck but they had locked the gate to the first class area. A sailor told us to wait until all the first class passengers had been loaded. A man was not happy about this and broke the lock on it. Allowing the gate to open. I got to the deck as fast as I could. When I got up there I didn't have a life preserver, so I went back down to my cabin to grab one. When I was going down the stairs the water was up 4 steps. This made me unable to go back to my room. I quickly went back to the deck. I was given a life preserver by a very nice first class passenger. I then helped lower 5 boats. When the 6th boat was being loaded many men jumped in it. I tried my luck, and went with them. The sailor said men had to get out to let room for women and children. By then I had been crying. A women I believed to be Mrs. Astor put a shawl on me and told me to stay there.many men were taken out by force, the sailors didn t notice me and I was able to stay. When we landed in the water we rowed away from steamer. About 15 minutes later the whole Titanic had been taken from the water. We were out in the water for a while, but soon saw the Carpathia with its bright lights. Many women were jumping around and yelling trying to get it s attention. We were then loaded on the Carpathia, and I was treated with great respect.

Titanic Survivor Francis M. Browne Born: July 3, 1880 Cork, Ireland Death:July 1960 Dublin, Ireland Francis was born in Cork Ireland on July 3,1880. His mother tragically died when he was just a child, and his father when he was a teenager. His Uncle Robert took the responsibility of raising him. His education was taught at 4 different schools. Later in 1897 he graduated. He and his brother traveled all around Europe, with the gift of a camera from his Uncle Robert. When he returned in September 1987 he entered the Jesuit novicate in Tullabey. He then went to the Royal University in Dublin. Once he passed all of his college exams, he traveled to Cheri, Italy to study philosophy. He returned to America after to teach at Belvedere College. In 1911 he did studies of theological in Dublin. A year later his Uncle Robert surprised him with a 1st class Ticket on the Titanic. He traveled from Southampton,England to Queenstown, Ireland. In 1915 July 13 he was ordained into priesthood. Soon after he joined the Irish Guard. He was injured in many battles, and in 1920 was demobilized. Throughout his life he took many pictures of his different experiences. He died in 1960, and was buried in Dublin, Ireland.

More People Could Have Been Saved More people could have been saved during the Titanic disaster. While lifeboats were being loaded, not enough seats were being filled. There were over 400 seats that were open. At the least, 400 more lives could have been saved. Originally there were supposed to be 32 lifeboats, but designers put 20 instead. They believed the deck would be too crowded with all the boats. When the iceberg was first spotted, William Murdoch spent half of a minute until he decided to take action and try to change the course of the ship. If he reacted sooner, 1,496 more people could have been saved. Many people believe they saved as many people as they could under the circumstances, but facts clearly show they are wrong. Overall, more passengers could have been saved in the sinking of the Titanic. http://www.historyofthetitanic.org/titanic-lifeboats.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/8933109/the-30-seconds-that-sankthe-titanic-fatal-delay-in-order-to-change-course-doomed-liner.html
