lite Step by Step Set Up Guide 1 lifting lug Secure lifting lugs to a certified lifting sling. Stand and stabilize escape system under work platform. Position module with round lunette ring facing work platform. Measure escape height from snubbing floor base to ground to ensure unit is within its allowable working height range for the Foxxhole Lite System being used. 4 static spine line x retension straps suspension strap Remove chute transport X retension straps (2) and store in accessories bag. Loosen but do not remove upper chute suspension tie down strap. Unravel the following: 1. Static Spine line (Blue rope found at top of chutes exit above hammock cradle) 2. Tugger line (found on underside of chutes exit). Ensure lines are not fouled. 2 Ensure module is stabilized by personnel in all operations. Remove one clevis from one lifting lug to allow for removal of top, front and back protective covers. Store all removed covers in a safe place. Replace and secure lifting sling clevis on to lifting lug. 5 lunette pintle hook Conduct interim safety meeting to address safety concerns, job functions, fall arrest and overhead lifting safety. No personnel shall be positioned directly under work area while lifting. Lift module with rig tugger line or picker assembly. Ensure lines are not fouled or attach them to other equipment during lifting. Position Lunette ring into open pintle hook at base of docking platform. Close and secure with locking pin. 3 swivel lug From accessories bag remove 2 anchoring turnbuckles. Install the open jaw of turnbuckle on to swivel lugs on the launch frame entrance. Attach turnbuckles with grade 8 bolts, lock washers and nuts supplied and securely wrench tighten. 6 Slant module frame away from docking platform to a 35º-45º degree angle from the entrance. Drop down the transition floor to cover pintle assembly. Ensure proper fit and secure in position.
7 rig anchor post With module positioned and install the free ends of the two turnbuckles fitted with pipe clamps to rig anchor posts. Tighten locking bolt on swivel lugs located on module frame assembly. 10 11.0 m 9.5 m 6.0 m 3 stage hammock 2 stage hammock Measurement from base of platform OPTIONAL INSTALLATION locking bolt Height measurement M-8+ design only: Auxilary static line extension for secondary and triple stage hammock deployment 8 5.0 meter air space Required lease equipment stand off from chute 9 safety chain 15 0 30 0 Snubbing Floor 15 0 5.0m 5.0m Ground Anchor Area Chute deployment working angles TOP VIEW Adjust turnbuckles to suit intended direction of drive on anchor. Turnbuckles may be lengthened or shortened to allow for up to 15 degrees left or right of centre line form exit. Install mid rail safety chains on module frame. From accessories bag Loop safety chains through D ring on each outer front side of module. Secure to work platform safety railings or other engineered structure. Adjust for tension by reducing or increasing links and secure chain loop with quick link. Determine if Static Spine line extension is required due to height of working platform. (Platform above 8.0 m to 9.5 m requires 1 extension on M-8 +, see section Static Spine line extension below.) Static Spine line connection: Fully extend turnbuckle on drive on anchor. Attach blue static spine line using carabineer to red weldless on turnbuckle. Walk anchor directly away until maximum tension can be place to Static Spine line by hand. Ensure suitable firm anchoring conditions exist on desired anchor placement on ground. Lower drive on anchor to ground while maintaining tension to Static Spine line. Static Spine line extension instalation: Remove carabineer from end of blue static spine line and attach stage extension rope from accessories bag to self locking safety hook permanently attached to original end of static spine line. Re-attach carabineer to new end of extension to Static Spine. Return to Static Spine line connection above. 11 drive on anchor Minimum 80% of vertical distance With caution stabilize drive on anchor, while front end of adequate anchoring vehicle of 3/4 ton diesel pickup or larger. Carefully directed driver to position tire in recess in middle of drive on anchor. Place vehicle in park or engage in low gear for a standard transmission. Engage park brake and remove keys to lock out location.
12 15 Angle of descent of Static Spine line from 35 to 60 degrees Tighten turnbuckle to desired Static Spine line tension (blue rope) approximately 200 lbs tension. (Firm resistance when pulled by hand.) Static Spine line should now be installed with a 35-60 degree angle of decent dependant on height. hammock support celvis static spine line tensioning chain Unravel required cradle hammock (Stage1: 6.0-8.0 m, Stage 2: 8:1-9.5 m, (Stage 3:optional system 9.6-11.0 m)). ENSURE THE FOLLOWING: 1. Run yellow web loops (6) at end of the hammock cradle over clevis U body assembly to secure closure of hammock cradle. 2. Ensure Static Spine line (blue rope) has been run through the cente of hammock cradle support clevis to suspend hammock on Static Spine line. 3. Ensure Tensioning chain is installed on clevis bolt thru chain connecting link on end of chain and secure. 13 rope brake deployment/retraction line tugger line Unravel Deployment/retraction rope from top side of module. (Rope runs through rope brake). Attach end of rope to lifting unit (Rig tugger winch or picker unit) with locking hook assembly. Pull directly upwards until line is fully extended. (Do not put tension in rope). Remove chute suspension tie down strap, store in accessories bag. Ease off rope brake. Allow lifting line to be lowered to deploy chute body down spine line till chute is hanging full extended. Relieve all tension in deployment line. Note: Auxiliary chute tugger line attached to lower section of chute exit may be required to be pulled from ground level to free up chute if binding. 16 tensioning 17 chain red weldless ring Install carabineer thru desired link of chute tensioning chain and attach carabineer to Red weldless ring. Heaviest worker to lay in hammock cradle to ensure a minimum of 10-12 inches of clearance from feet of worker within cradle hammock to ground below. Should adjustment be required for taking up slack, re run carabineer to shorten chain to chute hammock. Note: Chute system is designed specifically to be suspended on Blue Static Spine line on spiral ring assembly. Tension placed on 10-12 clearance hammock cradle and chute body by winch or mechanical means is by no means recommended. Do not remove, alter or substitute required escape system components or operations. Ensure Static Spine line has sufficient tension to allow for proper chute and evacuee suspension. Failure to do this may interfere with the safe operation of the escape chute. Visible metal support rings at end of chute body should be at a 90 degree angle to Static Spine line for a visual check for proper suspension of applied chute tension. 18 Carry out re-inspection to confirm all components are secured and ready to be placed in service. After confirmation, place unit in service and carry out daily inspections as per recommendations in Foxxhole Lite Operations Manual.
