Flatirons Ski Club April, 2018 An Outdoor Multi Sports & Social Group General Meetings are held @ the Unitarian Universalist Church 5001 Pennsylvania AV, Boulder, CO 80303 www.flatironsskiclub.com Letter from the President: Happy Spring! We have completed all of our winter trips with great success in terms of physical activities, enjoyment of the outdoors and forging new or deepening existing friendships. Speaking of which, do you have photographs taken on any of the trips which you could email to Stew? Stew traditionally compiles a slide show for the May 3 General Meeting which is the last meeting before our summer break. General meetings will resume Oct. 4 which is the date on which we set out trip sign-up sheets. The newsletter is issued year-round. Hope to see you at the May 3 meeting. Incriminating or goofy photos are especially popular! Donna FSC General Meeting is Thursday, "Snakes Alive!! April 5 th at 7pm Cameron Young, Executive Director of the Center for Snake Conservation, will examine the diversity of snake forms and functions and how these have shaped their natural history. The program will include live snakes and hands on demonstrations of how snakes see, smell, hear, move, forage, eat, and defend themselves. In addition, Cameron will explain the truth behind the myths that have created fear in humans and explain the risks, identification, and safety procedures for encounters with venomous snakes." Vice President Needed, Please!! Attention: The FSC is looking for someone to take on the job of FSC Vice President. Responsibilities of the VP are mainly to secure speakers for the General Meetings. The FSC Club meets from October through May. The October meeting is reserved for trip sign-ups and the May meeting is traditionally reserved for an end of season slide show compiled by Stew. This leaves the six months of November through April as needing speakers. The VP is free to line up any speakers which may interest club members. Programs in the past have included local ski shops and ski area reps, Rocky Mountain Rescue, Wildlife Rehab Specialists, Tenth Mountain Division, Boulder County Open Space, several volunteer, historical and scientific organizations and members. The VP is the keeper of the club s audio/visual equipment and would also be asked to lead General Meetings if the President is indisposed. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Donna.
