2 SPRING / EASTER HOLIDAY PROGRAMME Easter Holiday Programme: Monday 3rd - Thursday 13th April This year s Easter Holiday Programme takes inspiration from Year of History, Heritage & Archaeology 2017. Take part in loads of children and family events during this Spring and Easter which celebrate the richness of Scotland's intriguing history, impressive cultural heritage and fascinating archaeology. This holiday programme will kick start themes and ideas that will continue all the way through to summer. Come along and get involved in workshops! We are also very excited to be a part of Get Creative, a year-long celebration of British arts, culture and creativity. Getting involved and trying something new no matter your experience or age!

3 Get Creative Events 2017 People across Britain are set to take part in three days of good old fashioned 'have a go' creativity. 7th - 9th April 2017 there will be an event near you to help you unleash your inner artist. EDLC Cultural Development is pleased to be taking part in this year s festival. Please come along and have a go. Open your mind to new experiences while meeting new people and skills in a friendly environment near you. Young People & Adults - Get Creative with Our 3D Printer! Venue: William Patrick Library, Kirkintilloch Date/s: 7 April Time: 11.00am 12noon Fee/cost: Free Age: 8+ years Join us during this year s Get Creative weekend and book a place on our 3D printing workshop to 3D design a bookmark. Learn about printing, downloading designs and how this technology is a part of everyday life.

4 Adults - Get Mixing Your Media Venue: Lennoxtown Library, Lennoxtown Date/s: 7 April Time: 11.00am 3.30pm Fee/cost: Free Age: 16+ years One day taster workshop into mixed media. Be inspired by colour, texture and how to develop drawing, painting and printing with an added element of found objects like fabrics, papers and threads. A fun relaxing day experimenting while drinking lots of tea. Come along and challenge yourself.

5 Easter all day workshops Young People Portrait Artist for the Day Venue: Lillie Art Gallery, Milngavie Date/s: 4 April Time: 11.00am 4.00pm Fee/cost: 15.00 Age: 9+ years This fun workshop will guide young artists through the life and times of some of Scotland s most famous artists. Learning how they got to be so famous and how they worked. Then getting on with some fabulous portrait painting of the artists themselves. This fun workshop is full of big paintings and big games. Lots of giggles, experimenting with colour, materials and characters. Bring along lunch, a healthy snack and drink

6 Crazy Coin Ceramics Venue: The Barony Chambers (Auld Kirk), Kirkintilloch Date/s: 5 April Time: 11.00am - 4.00pm Fee/cost: 16.00 Age: 8-12 years Come alone, roll your sleeves up (wear something old) and get clay messy! Working with a real life ceramic artist, explore pattern, texture and what a lump of clay can turn into. A fun all day workshop to give young artists time to learn and explore the medium of clay. This workshop we will be inspired by coins through the years and what interesting stories and shapes coins can be. Bring along lunch, a healthy snack and drink Warrior Masks & Headdresses Venue: Lillie Art Gallery, Milngavie Date/s: 10 April Time: 11.00am - 4.00pm Fee/cost: 15.00 Age: 7-10 years Everyone loves a cardboard box. We will use our boxes to design and build fantastic masks and headdresses fit for an epic battle of creativity this Easter. Inspired by Scottish battle costumes we will design and make our very own unique pieces. This full day workshop is a mixture of printing, drawing, painting and using our imagination to become historians, costume designers and fashion warriors of the future. Bring along lunch, a healthy snack and drink

8 Taster Workshops My Pet the Hairy Haggis Venue: Lennoxtown Library, Lennoxtown Date/s: 12 April Time: 11.00am - 1.00pm Fee/cost: 6.00 Age: 7-11 years Come along and learn about the rare and very shy Scottish animal The Haggis. Work with an artist to design and make your very own pet Haggis. Don t worry if you ve never seen one, with all our lovely art materials will help you will make a wonderful personal haggis. Monumental Monuments Venue: The Barony Chambers (Auld Kirk), Kirkintilloch Date/s: 12 April Time: 2.00pm - 4.00pm Fee/cost: 6.00 Age: 7-11 years Come along young designers and explore how to design new buildings for the future of Scotland. Be inspired by the ancient structures and artefacts of our history to design the future. So don t miss out on lots of mess, lots of fun!

9 Digital & New media 3D Scanning & Printing Venue: William Patrick Library, Kirkintilloch Date/s: 3 April Time: 2.00pm - 4.00pm Fee/cost: 8.00 Age: 11+ years Balloon Jewellery Let s get digital this Easter! Bring along an open mind and see what you can design. Sketching, designing and inflating balloons (as you do). All will be revealed when you get here. Work with our digital artist who will teach you how playing around with scale and materials to create interesting shapes that can then be scanned. At the end we will save your design and get printing your piece. Examples or other printed objects and our printer will be with us to see how the magic works. This workshop is a bit more technical, prints take 2-3 weeks to be printed. We will contact you once they are ready for collection. Animation School Venue: Bearsden Library, Bearsden Hub Date/s: 4 April Time: 2.00pm - 4.00pm Fee/cost: 8.00 Age: 9+ years 123 Action - Balloons and Buildings Come and join our wonderful digital artist for a workshop where you design and build characters, write stories and record fun shorts (short animations, not the ones you wear when it s sunny outside). Join the fantastic world where anything can come true!

10 Easter Egg Hunt Venue: All EDLC Libraries Date/s: 3-7 April Time: Drop in Fee/cost: Free Age: All We need all you detectives out there to help find the Easter Egg images that have been hidden around all our libraries. Also check out what else is going on in your local library and book your place now for some cracking activities. Hurry places are limited. Please note booking is required for all workshops and performances. Insufficient numbers will result in events being cancelled before the advertised date.

All events, including free events, need to be booked unless the event information indicates drop in. In this situation, we will inform you as soon as possible, and give you the choice of a full refund or a place on a suitable alternative, if one is available.

12 General Information All children must be accompanied to shows and all children under 7 must be accompanied to workshops Photographs may be taken as a record of events, for future promotion or press and publicity. If you and/or your child do not wish to be photographed please inform staff on arrival.
