RESIDENT AND BUSINESS NOTIFICATION TEMPORARY CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS FINANCIAL REVIEW CORPORATE CYCLING CHALLENGE 2011 Dear Resident and Business, The City of Greater Geelong wishes to advise you of the traffic management arrangements for the Financial Review Corporate Cycling Challenger being staged on Sunday 04 December 2011 between 8:30am and 1:30pm. This is the first time this event has been staged in Geelong. Up to 1,000 participants will be participating in the Time Trial course, which starts outside the Four Points by Sheraton on Eastern and travels through Eastern Park along the Geelong Portarlington Road, turns around before Point Henry Road and returns along Geelong Portarlington Road via Eastern Park to conclude at Steampacket Gardens. This is an event that the City of Greater Geelong proudly supports. It is essential that the event is conducted in a safe manner, and therefore, the Victoria Police, Vic Roads and the City of Greater Geelong have approved for GO TRAFFIC to temporarily change the traffic conditions. TEMPORARY CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS IN YOUR AREA The race itself will operate on closed roads. No vehicle access will be allowed on the roads listed in the left column. Pedestrian access will be maintained. Please see the table below to determine when a roadway will be closed in your area. ROAD CLOSURE 8:30AM -1.30PM Eastern, Waterfront Geelong From: Moorabool Street to Bellerine Street Bellerine Street, Waterfront Geelong From: Corio Street to Eastern Deliveries Business deliveries should be delivered prior to 8.30AM or after 1.30PM. If this is not possible, footpath access will be maintained for trolley deliveries. Brougham Street Apartments Four Points by Sheraton Edgewater Apartments to Steampacket Place will be maintained during the road closure period via slip lane. Vehicles can enter/exit under the direction of a traffic controllers via Moorabool Street/Eastern intersection to Steampacket Place or vice versa. The car parking bays along this section of the course, including the Yarra Street extension will not be available until the roads are opened.
ROAD CLOSURES 8:30AM -1.30PM Upper Eastern, Waterfront Geelong From: Bellerine Street to Garden Street Swanston Street, Geelong Fitzroy Street Pevensey Street Alexander Avenue/Corio Street, East Geelong Between Garden Street and Bellerine Street Garden Street, East Geelong From: Podbury Crescent to Alexandra Avenue Eastern Park East Geelong bays along this section of the course will not be available to the public until the roads are opened. Residents planning to use their cars are asked to park in a side street. There will be marshals positioned at the side street intersections of Corio Street//Alexandra Avenue to manage residential vehicle cross overs. Limeburners Boat Ramp - Vehicle access to Limeburners Boat Ramp will not be permissible, however the event organisers have arranged to absorb the fees at St Helens Boat Ramp during the road closure period. Geelong Botanic Gardens - Vehicle access will be available via the Malop Street/Garden Street entry into the park, and by turning left into the Geelong Botanic Gardens car park.
ROAD CLOSURES 8:30AM -1.30PM Eastern Park continued.. Glen Avenue and Rowy Avenue, Eastern Park Ryrie Street//Geelong Portarlington Road From: Cheetham Road, Moolap to Meakin Street, East Geelong. Cheetham Road Moolap Geelong Conference Centre - Vehicle access will be available via the Garden Street/Malop Street entry into the park through to the Holt Road intersection where a traffic controller will stop and hold the vehicle until it is safe to cross over into Adams Court (the driveway of the Conference Centre). East Geelong Golf Club - Vehicle access will be available via the Malop Street entry into the park, through to the Holt Road intersection where a traffic controller will stop and hold the vehicle until it is safe to cross over into Adams Court and into the back entrance of the Golf Club. Residents in Glen and Rowy Avenues will be able to exit using the section of Glen Avenue that runs parallel with Holt Road and turn left out of Glen Avenue to the Humble Street cross over, where a marshal will escort the vehicle over Ryrie Street//Portarlington Highway and into Humble Street. Residents will be able to enter Glen and Rowy Avenue by going to the corner of Ryrie and Garden Street. A traffic controller will advise the driver when it is safe to travel east along Ryrie Street towards Holt Road. At Holt Road, a marshal will stop the vehicle and advise the driver when it is safe to travel onto Glen Avenue. park their cars in their driveway and not on the course/roadway. Residents planning to use their cars during the road closure period are asked to park in a side street. This roadway will only be accessible via Point Henry Road and right into Cheetham Road. Cheetham Road entry off the Geelong Portarlington Road will not be permissible. The Moolap Station Road and the Geelong Portarlington Road intersection will remain open.
